You know, I heard something interesting yesterday when I was watching CNN - which I rarely do ! One of the commentators in the morning - or host - whatevery ou call them was talking to someone and she had referred to the Gulf War - then immediately after saying "Gulf War" she corrected herself and said "Persian Gulf War" --- very interesting indeed... Hmm... they must have been told to make sure they get it right... I definitely think good things (well I hope good) are going on behind the scenes to get rid of the Mullahs!!!!

Interesting indeed - it's possible that the US gov has informed all media to make sure they USE "Persian" as much as possible -- get the whole concept and idea in the bloodstream of America

Yes, and I'm convinced that Americans would rather use the orginal and historically correct name; Persian Gulf, because samehow I don't think that the word "Arabian" is such a popular name in the US these days.

Can't really argue with that one. Though presently we only get really irritated about the word if it has 'Saudi' in front of it. 
Having spent a lot of time explaining to the uneducated on various forums (soon after Sept. 11, 2001) that none of the Afghan groups were 'Arabs', as well as having explained periodically that Iranians are mostly not Arab either, I think I can handle explaining that it's "The Persian Gulf". 
Sorry about responding to such an old post but I couldn't resist after reading that bit I quoted. |
