TNT planted 70 meters around Chogha Zanbil
Following the letter "Oil exploration activities threaten Chogha Zanbil" and the first pictures I sent to Iranian.com, here are two other pictures [(1) (2)] showing very well how dangerously close to the 3,500 years old monument (chogha zanbil), the TNT explosives have been planted. These explosives (planted every at 70 meters) are scheduled to go off some time in the next few days. The possible earthquake, waves and dust created by these explosions can cause irrepabale damages to the historical monument and archaeolgical sites. Experts inside Iran are extremely worried about the situation, please help in anyway you can. -- Ali Nasri

Oldest remaining ziggurat in the Near East

On the letter about Chogha Zanbil: The fact that you don’t know what or where Chogha Zanbil is should not make it nonexistent. It is the oldest remaining Ziggurat (step temple) in the Near East and it is from the Elamite period.
Chogha Zanbil a magnificent building located in a plain southeast of Shush in Khuzestan. The area around it is just being excavated and in all likelihood, it was the centre of a major city of the Elamite period.
Ziggurat of Chogha Zanbil is one of the most important archaeological sites of not only Iran, but the whole of the Near East and I personally like it more than many others.
The point on bad picture was well taken though. Here are some better ones >>> See
