Each year Baylor College of Medicine's Huffington Center on Aging, at an annual Women’s Health Summit, honors an internationally acclaimed woman with the Anne Morrow Lindbergh Award for Living with Grace and Distinction. The recipient of this prestigious award serves as the keynote speaker during the luncheon. Over the past years we have honored some incredible women including Madame Jehan Sadat and Countess Patricia Mountbatten. The 2005 recipient of this award is Her Imperial Majesty, Farah Pahlavi.

The Women’s Health Summit began in 1997. This dynamic program offers up-to-date information on issues relating to women’s health. An important component of this program is the innovative format, which provides both an educational forum and a fundraising awards luncheon to a very broad audience. The educational forum features internationally recognized physicians and scientists who serve as visiting professors to share the latest research and treatment discoveries in their particular areas of expertise. This year's educational speaker is Dr. Michael Hewitt who will discuss "Living Younger Longer." At the luncheon five Houston women are also honored for their vast philanthropic efforts in the community. These women truly make a difference in the lives of their local Houstonians.

The award presented to Her Majesty is named after a true American legend, Anne Morrow Lindbergh. Her accomplishments have touched many lives over the years. During the time her famous husband, Charles A. Lindbergh, was making history in American aviation, Anne was busy writing her beloved book, Gift From the Sea, which has influenced women's lives for over thirty years. Her courage and determination have made her a role model for women everywhere.

This year's Summit is Chaired by Donatella Benckenstein and Mehrnaz Gill.

Congratulations Queen Farah.
I can't think of anyone more deserving.
