(see! this is what happens when you try to be a good gov. employee and whitewash over your historic mistakes. it's just counterproductive.
------------

LOOL! Hey clueless wonder......whatever mistakes Carter made through lack of vision of cause and effect of policy does not excuse the role the Iranian people played in their own tragic misfortune.

You want to play "victim" that's your decision Liberty, but it's not only counter productive, it isn't going to help the Iranian people at this point in time.

BTW, if I was a US gov employee, I would niether have the time to waste posting replys to your inane conspiracy theories, nor would I be allowed by law to be an active partcipant (personally) in direct support of the Iranian people's aspirations for freedom.

As a private citizen, I am not under any such "conflict of interest" provisions that would arise if I were a US government employee, actively writing letters to the US gov on the Iranian people's behalf.

But clueless as you are....you didn't consider that did you?

One more thing....you should read Antar's UN speech, posted here under "Antar's Hypocracy" then you'll have a better understanding why I referenced you in the same sentence with him.....LOOL! Charade you are......

Please by all means don't wait for others to support your hypocracy....you talk a lot of s&!t about green belt BS...but never back it up with substance....which if there were substance to your idiocy....you'd have posted it to prove your case....So don't wait for others, or play victim, when you only have yourself to look at in the mirror when you wake up in the morning.....

Nappy-time's over Liberty! This message is for you...personal.

Oh ye of little consequence, insult us not with your drivel and propaganda, for those who look to the future have no need of the doubts and deception you sow among those sons of Iran you would call your friends...all while claiming to be the bearer of the truth.

Well, back to the topic of "tough talk" .......after a slight distraction...IRI seems to think it can bully its way with other nations, but it's going to harden opinion, not soften it, nor change the decision of the IAEA.

----------------

Iran has threatened to resume the enrichment of uranium.
Iran wants a resolution passed by the International Atomic Energy Agency, paving the way for referral to the UN Security Council, to be amended.

Foreign ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi did not give any time frame for Iran to start enrichment.

Iran has already warned that if the IAEA insists on implementing its latest resolution, then its spot inspections of Iranian nuclear sites will end.

Now Mr Asefi says Iran will also start up its enrichment programme if the IAEA resolution is not amended - something bound to alarm the international community.

Last chance

NUCLEAR FUEL CYCLE

Mined uranium ore is purified and reconstituted into solid form known as yellowcake
Yellowcake is converted into a gas by heating it to about 64C (147F)
Gas is fed through centrifuges, where its isotopes separate and process is repeated until uranium is enriched
Low-level enriched uranium is used for nuclear fuel
Highly enriched uranium can be used in nuclear weapons

In depth: Nuclear fuel cycle
The IAEA resolution has given Iran one last chance to build confidence by stopping all its nuclear activities and allowing even more access to UN inspectors.

Iran is now threatening to do the exact opposite of what it has been asked.

And there was also a warning for countries that did not vote in favour of Iran at the recent IAEA board meeting.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman said Iran would reconsider economic ties with some of these countries, depending on the state of relations.

Tehran has expressed particular surprise at India's decision to vote against Iran when the two countries are working on a major gas deal.

Dear Spenta,

Reverse psycology is a funny thing....just as the threat of election boycott caused the IRI to react by trying to hold a "western style" election (complete with posters in Emglish as eye candy for the western press) advertizing the farce more than a boycott ever could on its own, it seems the IAEA decision has had some "unforseen results" (chuckle)....the IRI is now apparently going to give the Iranian opposition exactly what it's been calling for from other nations....economic boycott.

regards,

Oppie

Iran To Mull Cutting Trade With India Over Nuclear Vote

September 27, 2005
Dow Jones Newswires
AP

TEHRAN -- Iran will consider reducing its trade with those countries, particularly India, that voted for Saturday's U.N. nuclear agency resolution to refer Tehran to the Security Council for possible sanctions, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters.

"We were very surprised by India," he said. The country is interested in importing Iranian natural gas through a pipeline that will pass through Pakistan.

The IAEA resolution put Iran on the verge of referral to the U.N. Security Council unless Tehran eases suspicions about its nuclear activities. The resolution told Iran to suspend all uranium enrichment activities, including uranium conversion, to abandon construction of a heavy water nuclear reactor, and to grant access to certain locations and documents.

Iran has rejected the resolution, protesting it was politically motivated and without legal foundation.

Asefi said Tuesday that Iran was asking its European negotiating partners - the U.K., France and Germany - and the IAEA for two things:

"First, they should not insist (on the terms of the resolution). Second, they should correct it. If the other parties' reaction is not along these lines, the Islamic Republic of Iran will take these measures," Asefi said.

He said Iran would cease to abide by the "voluntary measures" that it has been implementing as an expression of good will.

"If the IAEA and European countries don't make up for their error, we will cancel all voluntary measures we have taken," he said.

Effectively, this means that Iran would resume enrichment of uranium, which is currently suspended, and disregard the Additional Protocol to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty under which it grants IAEA inspectors the right to unfettered inspections of its nuclear facilities.

Asefi warned that referral to the U.N. Security Council could have unforeseen consequences. The resolution set no date for referral, but said it would be considered later.

"It's always easy to create a crisis, but not easy to control it," Asefi said. "We are giving the IAEA and the Europeans a very serious warning about this."

Iran would consider punishing those countries that voted for the resolution by cutting trade, Asefi said.

"We will regulate our relations with other countries based on mutual interest, " he said. "There are different levers in different areas to reduce economic ties."

Asefi said Iran's offer to give foreign countries and companies a role in its nuclear program was a "sincere measure of transparency."

Europeans have disregarded the offer, which was made by President Mahmoud Ahamdinejad at this month's U.N. summit in New York.

"What should we do to prove our sincerity?" Asefi asked rhetorically. "We are allowing them to lay their beds inside our facilities."

Asefi reiterated that Iran would never abandon its uranium enrichment program, a right to which it is entitled as a signatory to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.

Remarks to the Press on the IAEA Board of Governors Resolution Regarding Iran

Nicholas Burns, Under Secretary for Political Affairs
Via Telephone
Washington, DC
September 24, 2005

(2:50 p.m. EDT)

Good afternoon, everybody. Let me just make some points, just three points, to
try to put into context what we think happened today.

First, this is a significant step forward in the international effort to
isolate Iran. It's also a significant setback for Iran's nuclear strategy
because it's clear to us now that Ahmadi-Nejad's speech at the UN last weekend
backfired. It was seen as excessively harsh and uncompromising.

He spoke about Iran's rights but he didn't speak about Iran's responsibilities.
And he three times mentioned in that speech that Iran was determined to enrich,
which I think caught the attention of the international community. And there
was a stiffening, especially in the European position, over the last week,
which was quite notable. Before the speech was made, most people we were
talking to thought that a vote like this probably wouldn't be possible, both to
find Iran not to be in compliance and to refer Iran to the Security Council.
That's the first point.

Second point. It's very significant to the U.S. that India voted with the
majority. That is a blow to Iran's attempt to turn this debate into a developed
world versus a developing world debate. Peru, Ecuador, Singapore and Ghana also
voted with the majority against Iran. So we're very grateful for India's
support and it's significant that India is now working very closely with the
United States and Europe to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power.

Third and last point: looking ahead over the next couple of weeks and next
couple of months. We have a patient, long-term strategy. It is to isolate Iran
on this question. It's to ratchet up the international pressure on Iran. It is
to assemble a growing international coalition against it, as we've done with
North Korea. And Iran now needs to reflect on its choices. It is isolated on
this question. One country voted with it today, and that country was Venezuela.
And significant countries upon whom Iran was relying for support, whom Iran
thought might vote against, abstained, countries like Russia and China and
South Africa. So we would call on Iran to suspend its nuclear activities, to
suspend the uranium conversion and return to the negotiations with the European
Union.

Those are my three points to start.

Dear Rasker,

I posted something that included that, but it didn't list the IRI source, just that it was a IRI press "op-ed" if such a thing exists in Iran...lool!

It wasn't an official statement, but it's interesting how this regime can be played like a violin...no offense, but it seems like that famous Iranian pride has a predictable response when tweeked....IRI's blaming everyone but themselves, issueing the typical "offended party" line, and spewing threats when it doesn't get what it wants.

I've re-read SMCCDI's letter to Bolton a number of times, and it's curious to me for a number of reasons ...for one, it's like it totally pre-empted Antar's UN diatribe...2. Everything it asks the international community to do is basicly being pre-empted by the IRI....as it isolates itself...(chuckle). 3. I've yet to see any comment about that letter by anyone on this forum or on SMCCDI's forum....but maybe that's because no one takes issue with it in disagreement...(chuckle).

In any case, if I were in a world leader's shoes right now, I'd be taking a real good look at how to implement the suggestions put forth in it.

This may sound twisted as h.e.ll , but it seems the IRI is the best friend the opposition has....sure has proved SMCCDI's case at the very least.

Now it's time for the Opposition to go global, putting the truth in the hands of all the world's leaders...as a direct rebuttal to the IRI propaganda machine.

All in favor say "Aye"....all opposed can come up with a better plan....or stand aside.

Criticism of the Government's Foreign Policy

Iranian blogger, Hamid Ahadi, Rooz Online thru regimechangeiran:

With only two days after the ruling of the Vienna based IAEA’s governing board in which Iran has been ruled to be in violation and its case to be of UN Security Council concern, the focus in Iran is now turning towards the failure of president Ahmadinejad’s first major international policy of enormous importance to the nation, the region and even the world. To sum up, Rooz has held interviews with different national figures and will present them in its pages. ...

Among Iranian newspapers, Aftab Yazd in its editorial criticizes the exaggerations presented by officials about the nuclear discussions and calls on the government officials to be transparent about its international and national talks on the issue, which bears a vital interest on the future direction of the country as a whole.

Khorasan newspaper is even more direct in its writing and says that officials have been exaggerating and disregarding the true events of the issue, thus denying the country an honest understanding and picture of the events related to the nuclear issue. The picture that had been presented to the Iranian nation, the newspaper states, was that all events were moving in Iran’s favor. So when the IAEA voted against Iran, people were understandably shocked. Had an honest picture been presented to the public, they would have been happy with the modest achievements made in this regard. Should the same type of approach continue, people will become hopeless and will not be prepared to deal with the consequences that may emerge down the road. While predicting that pressure on Iran will continue to grow in the coming days and weeks, the editor of Khorasan says that the IAEA decision shows that a military attack on Iran is now out of the question, while very harsh economic sanctions may be the order of the day. He warns of the difficult days ahead. He ends his editorial with some poignant questions that are on people’s minds: Is it really worthwhile to follow the current nuclear policy if this is the price the nation has to pay? Should the matter be referred to the UN Security Council, what are Iran’s options and winning cards?

Sharq newspaper also editorializes on the subject and calls for a national consensus and the prevention of an international coalition against Iran. National consensus can only be achieved through democracy and openness while the international issue can be attained through finding honest good friends. The writer than advocates the policy of practicing comradeship with friends and patience with enemies.

The existing situation in Iran reminds many of the cautious policies that moderates followed for years to avoid such (IAEA’s harsh resolution against Iran) confrontation and crises, while they have been accused by the hardliners of being too soft on the issue with the international community and unnecessarily caving to their demands. But the moderates themselves have chosen to remain silent at this time, least they be accused of being obstructionists. Yet, some have started to whisper and comment on the issue, so that what comes out of Tehran is not just the yes-men who support anything that the officials do, while the international press vigorously debates the issues. In Tehran while the officials may continue to tow the line that we must our ties with the world and pay whatever price our demands require, the majority of those on this plateau think differently.
