Petition 30: Stop Legal Action Aganist Iranian Archeological Assets in the US

To: The Honorable Judges at the US Supreme Court
And for the attention of all advocates of preserving the cultural heritages of humanity

According to the news sources, a Rhode Island lawyer has turned to the Iranian collections of leading US museums to seek compensation for American victims of Middle East suicide bombers. The reasoning being that Hamas, the terrorist group guilty for such atrocity, is partially financed by Islamic regime that controls Iran. He wants the University of Chicago to surrender a treasure trove of ancient Persian artifacts to survivors. We know that a vast international fight is being wedged against terrorism and believe that every action capable of stopping stop it should be adopted. Nevertheless, we do not consider this legal action anything tuned to that goal. It only seeks to liquidate the non-transferable historical assets of a country into a source of material satisfaction of a number of people who deserve all the sympathy and help of every one of us. There are actually two points in this legal action that deserve special consideration. First of all, in the words of the US President, we should not punish the Iranian people for whatever the Islamic regime of Iran is doing on the international arena. This is a nation kept under horrendous captivity that needs international sympathy rather than punishment. Secondly, plundering this nation’s cultural heritage, especially by taking them from their safe public and educational holding places in museums and universities and giving them to private individuals should be consider as a crime against the cultural values of the whole civilized world. We strongly protest against this irrational move and hope that no fair deciding authority would create such an ugly precedence that only reminds us of Hitler’s decision to confiscate the cultural treasures of embattled nations.

Petition 31: Save Malek Qorbani (Iranian Young Female) From Stoning To Death In Iran

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To: The United Nations, European Union, and other international bodies

An Islamic court in Uromiyeh, Eastern of Iran recently sentenced a young woman to stoning for adultery. The woman, only identified, Malek Qorbani, borne in Naqadeh, now is in prison of Uromiyeh. She was condemned to stoning for adultery.

Stoning is execution by torture, an act of sheer barbarism and a hideous crime against humanity. Stoning is practiced by Islamic governments and groups imposing the Islamic Sharia law.

Under Iran’s Islamic Penal Code, adultery by a married woman is punishable by stoning. The law is very specific about the manner of execution and types of stones which should be used. Article 102 states that men will be buried up to their waists and women up to their breasts for the purpose of execution by stoning.

Such savagery and barbarism must not be tolerated. Stopping stoning must be a priority for all humanitarian organizations and individuals throughout the world. We must put an end to this barbaric act once and for all.
We urge the United Nations, European Union, and other international bodies to take strong actions against Islamic Republic of Iran for inhumane and illegal treatment of the Iranian. We demand that:

Immediate abolition of stoning and all other forms of punishment for extra-marital relations and all other Shari'ah laws.

Immediate release of Malek Qorbani and all those imprisoned for extra-marital relations.

We support the efforts of the International Committee against Stoning for ending stoning in Iran. We call upon all to do the same.

Sincerely,

Petition 32: Stop bias on the Persian Gulf

To: Agence France Press,Reuters,Associated Press

In the recent years, the mainstream media have fallen into the trap tended by several Arab sheikhdoms like Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, among the others. In particular, international agencies have echoed these countries' false and anti-historical claims regarding the Persian Gulf.

Agence France Presse, Associated Press and Reuters refuse to call the Persian Gulf with its real name, using the false name of "Arabian Gulf" or simply "Gulf" without putting in the word "Persian".

We believe that this behavior not only is an insult to historical facts; it's also an insult to millions of Iranians and, above all, an indirect endorsement of the claims of the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf.

We call on the above mentioned press agencies to adopt a more responsible and unbiased way to report news by calling the Persian Gulf with its name and respect the historical truths who cannot be denied for some dangerous purpose.

Sincerely,

To: The Secretary General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan,The United Nations High Commissioner of Human Rights, Louise Arbour,The Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, and The Head of the Judiciary of IRI Ayatollah Mahmou

CC: U.S. President, EU Heads of States, Heads of the world’s democratic states, General Secretary of the United Nations, The United Nation Commission for Human Rights Special Rapporteur, U.S. Secretay of State, U.S. Congress, Senator Brownback, the European Parliament, Amnesty International, International Journalism Group

On or about June 29, 2006, a court in the northwestern Iranian city of Urmia sentenced Malak Ghorbany, an Iranian woman, to death by public stoning after finding her guilty of the crime of “adultery.” Under Iran's Penal Code, the term "adultery" is used to describe any intimate or sexual act between a man and a girl or a woman outside of marriage. The crime of adultery is also used in cases where a girl is deemed to have committed "acts incompatible with chastity," which includes instances of rape. In Iran, the punishment for "adultery" is death. In Ms. Ghorbany’s case, the particular method of execution mandated – death by stoning -- is one of the most inhumane and gruesome acts of torture and violence.

On the day of her punishment, the Ms. Ghorbany’s hands will be tied behind her back as she becomes covered from head to toe in winding sheets and is placed seated in a pit. The pit is then filled up to her chest with dirt and the dirt is tamped down. At that point, members of the community are invited to murder her by hurling rocks at her. To ensure that the person condemned to stoning receives the absolute maximum amount of pain and torture, the Iranian government has even mandated the size of the stones that are to be used in this barbaric act of public execution. By law, no stone should be thrown that would kill Ms. Ghorbany with the first or second blow, or so small as a pebble to do no injury to her body.

Stoning is a unique form of punishment in that there is no single executioner. The simplistic act of gathering the victim’s peers around her creates killers out of everyone. Those who participate in the mass murder of another by throwing stones at her view the practice as a social event that is more akin to a form of sport than a true act of moral self-righteousness. An actual video of a stoning can be viewed at http://www.iran-e-azad.org/stoning/. The footage taken in Iran illustrates a party like atmosphere of those carrying out the execution.

Clearly, stoning is a diabolical form of torture and murder and it must be stopped. That humans should gather around and jubilantly throw stones with the intent to take another human’s life -- in this case, the life of Ms. Ghorbany -- is a repugnant thought. Such acts of barbarism and violence far outweigh any form of moral transgression that Ms. Ghorbany may have committed. Further, the cruelty and inhumanity of Ms. Ghorbany’s death sentence is a violation of her human rights under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), to which Iran is a party.

With regard to the above, we, the undersigned, request your urgent help to prevent the inhumane torture and punishment to which Ms. Ghorbany has been sentenced. As such,

· We request that the death sentence imposed on Ms. Ghorbany be commuted immediately;

· We urge the authorities to conduct a thorough examination of Ms. Ghorbany’s case to ensure that she received a fair trial and that her legal representation was competent and adequate throughout the proceedings;

· We urge that the authorities ensure that Ms. Ghorbany’s family is made aware of its legal rights in accordance with Islamic and International rules and covenants;

· We appeal to the Islamic Republic of Iran to honor its commitment to the ICCPR, to which it is a signatory.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

Iran: Free Wife of Political Prisoner Seized on Street

February 23, 2007
Human Rights Watch
Human Rights News

http://www.hrw.org/english/docs/2007/02/23/iran15396.htm

New York -- The Iranian government should immediately release Somaye Bayanat, wife of the well-known political prisoner Ahmad Batebi, and investigate the manner in which she was snatched from the streets, Human Rights Watch said today.

On February 21, two men, thought to be security and intelligence agents, snatched Bayanat from the streets in the northern city of Gorgan, where she works as a dentist. Somaye Bayanat’s brother, Miad Bayanat, provided Human Rights Watch with details of how his sister was detained. Bayanat was meeting a friend at 8 p.m., and as she approached her friend’s car, a light-colored Peugeot pulled out in front of her. Two men exited the car, showed Bayanat a piece of paper, forced her into the vehicle, and drove off.

“The authorities seem to have arrested Somaye Bayanat by snatching her in a kind of kidnapping,” said Sarah Leah Whitson, director of Human Rights Watch’s Middle East and North Africa division. “The Iranian government should release Bayanat and investigate this outrageous arrest.”

According to Miad Bayanat, in the immediate aftermath of her apparent abduction, Bayanat’s family searched for her at police stations and security force offices, but no one had any information on her whereabouts or would confirm if she had been arrested. Confirmation that Bayanat was in the hands of the security forces came only on February 22, when the family received a phone call at 4 p.m. from her cell phone. A man identified himself as calling from the Gorgan’s Women’s Prison, then handed the phone to Bayanat.

Bayanat’s family had heard from her twice after her arrest but before they learned of her whereabouts. First, several hours after her detention, she called a cousin and told him that she would be sending her house keys to him by taxi so that he could take care of her pet.

The family also repeatedly tried to call her cell phone between 8 p.m. and 1:30 a.m., when she finally answered her phone. On this occasion, in an extremely brief phone conversation, Bayanat told them that she was on a work-related trip to the city of Mashad. According to the family, Bayanat had not told them in advance about any such trip, and when they pressed her on the issue, she replied that she could not speak anymore but that she was not arrested.

Finally, on February 22, the family received the phone call apparently made on Bayanat’s cell phone from Gorgan’s Women’s Prison. Bayanat told her family that she had been arrested in connection with a group of medical doctors with whom the authorities are alleging she works, and that she had been charged with several criminal offences, including forging medical documents and performing illegal abortions. She claimed that she would be released within five to seven days.

Miad Bayanat told Human Rights Watch that his family is not aware of any such group of doctors and does not believe any of these allegations, as Bayanat is a dentist.

Bayanat’s arrest comes at a time when her husband, political prisoner Ahmad Batebi, has been suffering severe health problems resulting from the physical and mental pressures of detention, including severe beatings and torture. Security forces arrested Batebi in 1999 for participating in student protests, and the Judiciary subsequently sentenced him to 10 years’ imprisonment. On February 18, the authorities transferred Batebi from Tehran’s Evin prison to Tajrish Shohada Hospital. According to news reports, Batebi’s physician, Hesam Firoozi, announced that Batebi’s condition is dire and that he requires treatment outside of prison. On February 20, the Judiciary’s spokesman, Alireza Jamshidi, told reporters that Batebi’s health is fine. Batebi was returned to Evin and is currently held in section 350 of the prison. He has told his family that he is on a hunger strike to protest his wife’s abduction.

“The Iranian government should release Somaye Bayanat, drop the dubious charges against her, and give proper medical care to her husband Ahmad Batebi,” said Whitson.

Background

Ahmad Batebi first came to international attention when his photo was published on the cover of The Economist magazine in 1999. In the now-famous photo, Batebi is standing in a crowd of student protestors and holding up the bloodied shirt of a fellow student who had been beaten by plainclothes militia during the protests.

Authorities arrested Batebi in connection with his participation in these protests and he was initially handed a death sentence on charges related to endangering national security. The sentence was later commuted, first to 15, then to 10 years’ imprisonment.

While interrogating Batebi, security forces severely beat and tortured him. He described these early experiences in a detailed letter dated March 23, 2000, which he smuggled out of Evin prison. As a result of this torture and poor detention conditions, Batebi’s hearing and eyesight were diminished, and he lost several teeth.

Since being incarcerated, prison authorities have allowed Batebi to leave the prison on furlough several times, usually to seek medical treatment. During one such furlough in November of 2003, authorities detained Batebi following his meeting with Ambeyi Ligabo, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Freedom of Opinion and Expression, who was visiting Iran on a fact-finding mission.

After another furlough in the spring of 2005, Batebi did not report back to prison, although authorities were aware of his whereabouts. In July of 2006, Batebi was re-arrested and has been serving his sentence in Evin prison.

Batebi’s physical and mental health have continued to deteriorate in prison, resulting in his recent hospitalization on February 18 at Tajrish Shohada Hospital. He has since been returned to Evin prison. His physician Hesam Firoozi has confirmed his family and friends’ claims that Batebi requires immediate health care in appropriate health care facilities.

8-14 Avenue de la Paix

In the summer of 1999, 21 year old film student Ahmad Batebi arrived at a peaceful student protest held in front of his school at University of Tehran. A vigilante mob supported by the special security police had already attacked the protestors injuring several students, arresting numerous others and killing at least one.

Batebi who was trained as an emergency paramedic by the Red Crescent Society of Iran was assisting the injured when he came across a severely injured friend and held his friend's bloody t-shirt above his head to show the cruelty of the attackers. Several journalists and photographers took pictures of his gesture and one ( http://bateby.cjb.net/ ) eventually found its way to the cover of London's prestigious The Economist. Preparing for a movie where he was to play the role of Jesus Christ, Batebi had long hair and a beard at the time, making him an attractive subject for such a dramatic pose.

Batebi was arrested on that day and was later brought to trial in front of the special "revolutionary court" in Tehran. His "trial" lasted only a few minutes and he was denied having a lawyer present to defend him. The Economist cover was used as part of the evidence against him and to prove his "counter-revolutionary" activities. He received a death sentence but internal and international pressure, finally caused the authorities to reduce his sentence to 15 years.

Ahmad Batebi has been subjected to solitary confinement, physical and mental torture during his captivity so far and will be a 36 year old man when and if released at the end of his sentence. All for a bloody t-shirt and a picture.

We, the undersigned, appeal for your involvement on Batebi's behalf based on principals of Universal Declaration of Human Rights (http://www.unhchr.ch/udhr/lang/eng.htm ), to which Iran is a signatory.

His arrest, trial and detention are clear violations of Articles 9, 10, 11, 18, 19 and 20 of this significant document adopted and proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations in December of 1948 and as such mandates your immediate intervention.

Furthermore, we call upon the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to meet its international obligations and free all political prisoners and others held based on their religious or ideological opinion and belief.

Sincerely,

I just found out tonight, that my cousin Mohammad Majzadeh Ghaemmaghami is in EVIN 19.04 (209). Someone, a completely random person who apparently knows my mother, emailed me the information: http://www.komitegozareshgar.blogfa.com/ you can read (in farsi) that he is a student, that was arrested for participating in labor and pro-democracy protests these past few months. I just don’t know what to do! I’m worried sick. My mother is sick, everyone is. Please, I know that the more public I can make his case, that perhaps Mohammad has a chance of not being executed. Sign this, he is my cousin; an intelligent, handsome, freedom loving, peace loving student who was merely speaking his mind.

The ethics of life are the pursuit of awareness about truth for ourselves and others. The ultimate goal is total awareness by increasing public awareness about the truth .

The biggest surprise of 2003 was when an Iranian female lawyer, Ms. Shirin Ebadi, became the first Iranian ever to win a Nobel prize. Yet, the Nobel committee referred to her as the first Muslim woman, completely denying her nationality. Due to the fact that Ms. Ebadi clearly declared that she is “Muslim Woman” and many historical facts in past 1400 years indicate that Islam is based on violence and creating Fear Society therefore she has no basis for “non-violent” means within the context of Islam. Islam as defined by Prophet Mohammad the Prophet of War and invasion with nine wives and his marriage with 9 year old girl (child) is rejecting all basic rights within Free Society as we all freedom-loving people agree and respect. Due to the fact that respect for Women Rights and Human Rights within the context of Islam does not exist therefore these are just empty slogan by Ms. Ebadi and others to deceive public and appease Pro Hezbollah Islamofascist Occupiers of Iran for hidden agenda.

Mr. Khatami, former President of regime and Islamofascist Servant who can not even capable of having dialogue and engage with Iranian people as their hostage for over 27 years, is asking for dialogue between civilizations and cultures. We should not forget and forgive during his term, so called reformist and EU3 appeasers dialogue era the Pro Hezbollah Islamofascist occupiers of Iran savagely tortured and killed Ms. Zahra Kazemi, a Canadian-Iranian photojournalist, execution of the 16-year-old girl, Ms. Atefeh Rajabi and 1000s of students arrested ……

Iranian-American Writer and Poet Mr. Amil Imani stated:
“The terror and death inflicted on humanity is not the work of radical Islam, neither the political Islam, nor the militant Islam. It is Islam, period. Get it? …
How could people calling themselves sincere God-fearing religionists bring themselves to even think of acts of such barbarity, yet plan them methodically and cold-bloodedly proceed to execute them?
The answer is Islam. The life manual of Islam, the Quran, is a document of exclusion, hatred and violence that shapes the Muslims’ thinking and behaving. This stone-age document is optimally suited for people of stunted development. People who prefer to follow than to think for themselves, to hate than to love, and to seek death rather than to celebrate life.
All the excuses, grievances and reasons given for savagery of the jihadists and Islamofascists are side issues. It is Islam, dummy. It is Islam itself. Get it?” Source URL for detail:

2- Not to invite Ms. Shirin Ebadi for lecture as long as she consider herself as “Muslim Woman” and has not rejected Islam. Jean F. Duff, M.A., M.P.H.
Managing Director of the Center
The Center for Global Justice and Reconciliation
Subject: The Center’s Invitation of Mr. Khatami

Dear Ms. Duff:

First of all, I must commend the CGJR for its admirable and worthy goals. Global justice would alleviate some of the pains of the downtrodden and help reduce, if not eradicate, poverty. And interfaith dialogue would certainly be a positive step in the direction of reconciliation and, God willing, world peace. I am certain that in order to achieve these results, CGJR seeks and engages the cooperation of honest and dedicated partners who sincerely share its goals and ideals. This is precisely the reason why my colleagues and I were shocked to learn that CGJR had extended the hand of friendship to Mr. Khatami, under whose 8 years tenure as the President of the Islamic Republic, state sponsored atrocities were committed on national and international scale.

Mr. Khatami has a likable smile, and unlike most of his cohorts, is pleasant and seemingly rational. But the gentle demeanor is but a facade hiding a dedicated fundamentalist Islamist who has always been true to his mentor’s, i.e. Ayatollah Khomeini’s brand of uncompromising fundamentalism and enmity with the “Great Satan”. Mr. Khatami has been one of the stalwarts of the Islamic Republic from its inception.

It is universally known that the former President has declared himself a proponent of “dialogue between civilizations”. But it is not commonly known that in a number of speeches and pronouncements he has consistently characterized Israel as “a cancer on the body of nations”, and on numerous occasions when officiating at Friday prayers in Tehran, he has led the congregation with slogans of death to the Great Satan.

Mr. Khatami’s first high post was as the Minister of Culture and Guidance in 1984. His greatest achievement at the time was the creation of Hezballah in Lebanon. His lesser achievement was the brutal enforcement of Islamic attire and public behavior. Flogging of young girls and women for wearing lipstick or not covering their hair adequately became commonplace. And men were accosted for wearing short sleeved shirts.
As the President of the Islamic Republic, by all documented accounts, his tenure was rife with corruption, brutal suppression, illegal incarceration, torture and murder of students and other dissidents, murder of prominent members of the opposition both inside Iran and abroad, continued plunder of national wealth, rampant increase in drug use by the youth, and prostitution becoming a thriving export industry. But of course, there were some achievements as well: The secret development of Iran’s nuclear capabilities, the development of short and medium range missile systems in Iran, and the financing of international terrorist organizations.

Without a doubt, CGJR believes fervently in basic human rights, and abhors atrocities. The question is how can CGJR explain its invitation to a person who has been an active part of the leadership of the murderous regime for almost 30 years? Of course we say yes to dialogue, but with whom and at what cost? People should be held accountable for their deeds. Of the atrocities committed on Mr. Khatami’s watch, the following actually made international headlines. Barely one year into his first term, a series of government sanctioned murders, that came to known as the “chain murders”, were carried out both within Iran and in Europe:
--The leader of the Iranian Nation’s Party, Dariush Forouhar, a prominent and well respected opposition leader, and his wife Parvaneh, a well known author, were butchered to death in their apartment. The government’s own investigation identified the assassins as members of the regime’s intelligence service. They were detained to quell the outcry, and released when things quieted down.
--A number of Kurdish-Iranian opposition leaders, among them Mr. Abdolrahman Ghasemlou, were assassinated in Germany. Investigation by German authorities linked the killings to agents of the Islamic Republic.
--Mr. Khatami talks of ‘openness’ and ‘dialogue’, but when the Tehran University students rose to demand openness, fairness and freedom, Mr. Khatami quashed their nascent aspirations with an iron fist. Mr. Batebi, one of the students arrested at the time is still languishing in jail, nearing death because of a hunger strike protesting the dire conditions of his incarceration.
--Another incident that caught the attention of the international press, albeit for a brief moment, was the murder of a Canadian-Iranian photo journalist in 2003. Zahra Kazemi was visiting her aged mother in Iran and at the same time researching women’s conditions there. She was apprehended, tortured, and beaten to death. Once again one of the regime’s ‘intelligence’ officers was arrested, tried and exonerated!

All cases recounted here are documented. In fact, a Google search will pull up most of these reports. Azadegan has always advocated peaceful change for Iran, but sincerely believes that dialogue should not translate to appeasement of a vile, murderous and corrupt regime. Mr. Khatami is not a private individual, but is still very much a part of the nomenclature and is an active member of the Expediency Council.

We respectfully recommend that in the spirit of supporting the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom, and affirmation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the CGJR withdraw its invitation to Mr. Khatami, the official public relations representatives of the Islamic Republic.

Senator Santorum Expresses Outrage that Khatami's Visit to the United States Permitted By Administration

August 29, 2006
Alum Bank, PA - U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA), Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, today made the following statement regarding former Iranian President Mohammed Khatami’s request for a visa to visit the United States.

“I am outraged to learn that former Iranian President Mohammed Khatami’s request for a visa to visit the United States has been approved by the Bush Administration. Mohammed Khatami is one of the chief propagandists of the Islamic Fascist regime. He was elected as a so-called reformer, but he presided over a dramatic worsening in the material and political conditions of the Iranian people. During his presidency, the suppression of free speech was so great that the organization ‘Reporters Without Frontiers’ branded Iran “the greatest predator of free press in the Middle East.” When Iranian students demonstrated against the regime in 1999, Khatami’s government arrested thousands of people, some of whom remain in prison to this day.

“I believe that granting a visa to Khatami so that he can travel around the United States and mislead the American people is a mistake. The U.S. government should insist, at a minimum, that authoritative Americans be given equivalent opportunities to speak to the Iranian people. Iran is frightened of freedom, as we can see from their frantic jamming of our radio and television broadcasts. A simple reciprocal agreement with the government of Iran will allow millions of Iranians to hear a message of freedom and hope – this is the least we should demand to allow Khatami into our nation.”

To: International Criminal Court (ICC), Human Rights Watch Geneva, Reporters Without Borders, U.S. President, U.S. Congress, Heads of Free World’s States, the European Parliament, and The International Law Professors, Judges, Lawyers, Prosecutors and Freedom-Loving Activists (Left, Center, and Right)

The ethics of life are the pursuit of awareness about truth for ourselves and others. The ultimate goal is total awareness by increasing public awareness about the truth .

FREE Iran Real Cases Mock Trials declares Khatami, Khameni, Rafsanjani, Amadinejad ... as Islamic Fascists leadership and Occupiers of Iran who are considered as guilty for Crimes Against Humanity according to the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and established International Law. They have created Fear Society, Terror and have taken 70 million Iranians as their hostages.

Due to extensive nature of Islamic Fascists leadership crimes against humanity in Iran and outside, therefore we examine Mullah Khatami criminal case record as an example of so called more moderate Islamic Fascist leadership element and master of deception to expose tip of iceberg for our fellow freedom-loving people of the world review, and consideration.

Over the past 28 years the Islamic Fascists occupiers of Iran and regime's agents, courts, judges and vigilantes have all committed acts of: International terrorism, mass execution of political prisoners, murder, stoning, torture, assault, theft, destruction of property, arson, perjury, falsification of testimonials and material evidence, illegal surveillance, kidnapping, rape, blackmail, fraud, obstruction of justice, creating fear society, conspiracy, cover-ups and every other form of butchery and depredation.

Top Iranian scholar Dr. Assad Homayoun regarding Khatami Era :
“It is universally known that the former President has declared himself a proponent of “dialogue between civilizations”. But it is not commonly known that in a number of speeches and pronouncements he has consistently characterized Israel as “a cancer on the body of nations”, and on numerous occasions when officiating at Friday prayers in Tehran, he has led the congregation with slogans of death to the Great Satan.
But of course, there were some achievements as well: The secret development of Iran’s nuclear capabilities, the development of short and medium range missile systems in Iran, and the financing of international terrorist organizations.”

"Mohammad Khatami was the president of Iran between the years of 1997 and 2004. The State Department listed Iran as the number-one state sponsor of terrorism during those years. Among other things, during the Khatami years, Iran refused to hand over to the United States the Iranian intelligence officials who supervised the attack on the Khobar towers that killed American soldiers. Khatami continues to support Hezbollah, Hamas, and has called for the destruction of the state of Israel." Source: http://activistchat.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=29564#29564

Top Iranian Journalist Mr. Amir Taheri , France's leading foreign-policy journal:
” This may well provide an opportunity for the U.S. media to ask Khatami about the atrocities committed by his administration, including the assassination of dissidents, the arrest and torture of thousands of people, including trade unionists and student leaders, the closing of over 150 newspapers and magazines, the banning of hundreds of books and dozens of films, the arming of the Hezbollah in Lebanon, shipping weapons to Yasser Arafat’s terror units and Islamic Jihad, and providing the Jaish al-Mahdi in Iraq with money and arms.
Let us not forget that it was during Khatami's administration that the Islamic Republic speeded up its nuclear program to acquire the so-called “surge capacity” needed for manufacturing atomic warheads.
Khatami would also have to explain whether or not he still regards Hassan Nasrallah, leader of he Lebanese branch of Hezbollah, as “The Sun of Islam shining over the world,” as he put it in a message on July 15”.

"Khatami is very much a member of the clerical fascist regime. He was the empty vessel into which the Iranian people poured their dreams of freedom when they elected him; now he couldn’t win an election for dog catcher. He presided over brutal repression, including the grisly murders of the Forouhars in 1978 and the mass murders and arrests of student demonstrators a year later."
Statement from Ms. Anne Bayefsky is a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute and at Touro College Law Center.
"The U.S. visa to former Iranian President Khatami - who wasn’t exactly AWOL during the buildup of Iran’s nuclear program - is not an isolated event. As the pattern of all talk and no action takes hold, this move too will undercut any demand to the international community for immediate, serious sanctions on Iran. Statement from Laurent Murawiec is a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute :

It wishes for the apocalypse that will bring forward the coming of the Mahdi, who will in turn win the great battle with Satan that will extend Allah’s writ to the entire earth. It devoutly believes that the nuclear Holocaust where Israel would perish would hugely advance the timetable of reappearance of the Twelfth Iman, the Mahdi."

The Anglican Church in Iran was decimated during his presidency. Iranian activists and youth recognize that the “Smiling Mullah” has an appeal to the West, but it is only a façade that veils the insidious failure to bring about authentic change during his presidency.”

WE, the undersigned, as members of the civilized world, call urgently on the free world to set up a committee to investigate the involvement of the clerical regime in crimes of conspiracy to commit genocide and crimes against humanity according to the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and established International Law.

We, the Undersigned, therefore demand based on over 28 years evidence:
- That world governments declare the Islamic Clerical Regime of Iran as illegitimate and unfit to govern and expel from UN and all International Institutions.
- That all high ranking regime officials be investigated and prosecuted by respected International Courts for genocide and many other crimes against humanity.
- Mullah Khatami, Khameni, Rafsanjani, Amadinejad ... as Islamic Fascists, Terrorists and International criminals. They must be arrested outside Iran on basis of the following facts:
1- Human Rights Violation, Women Rights Violation, and Stoning Women.
2- Using religion as a tool against the majority who demand for Free Society and Secular Democracy.
3- Threat to global peace and security.
4. Support for Terrorism.
5. Interference in other sovereign nation's affairs, and destabilization of...

To: The University of St. Andrews
Re: Awarding an Honorary Degree to Mohammad Khatami on 31 October 2006

We the undersigned strongly object to your university’s decision to award an Honorary Degree to Mr. Seyed Mohammad Khatami, the former president of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

During Mr. Khatami’s presidency (Voted in by millions of Iranians whose aspirations were to see an improvement in the social, political and economic conditions in Iran), the people of Iran continued to suffer from the Islamic Republic’s theocratic and oppressive policies!

Only after 2 years into Mr. Khatami’s presidency, following the banning order of many newspapers and suppression of any voice for democracy, the Tehran University students’ uprising in July 1999, demanding for the freedom of speech and calling for Democratic Rights was brutally vanquished by the Regime’s military forces!
Mr. Khatami himself delivered a speech during the students’ protest which condemned their movement declaring to ”Crush any movement which would undermine the foundation of the Islamic Republic, at any cost”!

During Mr. Khatami’s presidency the infamous “Serial Murders” of the leaders of the opposition, both inside Iran and abroad, were continued by the mercenaries of the regime and although demanded from him by the international Human Rights Organisations such as “Amnesty International” and “The Human Rights Watch”, to bring the perpetrators to justice, he chose to take no action!

During Mr. Khatami’s presidency, many intellectuals such as Mrs. Zahra Kazemi, an Iranian born Canadian Journalist and Dariuosh Forouhar and his wife, well known members of the banned opposition party (Iran Nation’s Party) were brutally murdered.
Mr. Khatami’s position on Mr and Mrs Forouhar’s murder was such that just hours before the murders were reported; he had delivered a speech to condemn secular political activists.
Khatami's condemnation of opposition activities on that day was his personal endorsement to carry out these murders!

Mr. Saeedi Sirjani, and many more Iranian scholars, thinkers and intellectuals were murdered while he served the Islamic Republic as the Minister of “Islamic Culture & Guidance” and in fact, one needs to refer to Mr Saeedi Sirjani’s testamentary preface in many of his books to find out that he personally held Mr. Khatami responsible for his death!
While Mr. Saeedi Sirjani’s books were being torched and his house ransacked by the security forces and the regime's thugs, Mr Khatami and his office were too busy “Guiding” the Nation into the Islamic Values!

To this effect, the people of Iran were soon disillusioned by Mr. Khatami’s so called “Reforms” and soon realised that he was just another brick in the wall of the Fascist state of the Islamic Republic of Iran!

Mr. Khatami has a talent for hiding his true face behind a charming smiley mask and the people of Iran learnt this the hard way.

Today, the entire free world holds the Islamic Republic of Iran responsible for many commotions and terrorist activities around the world including agitating the Moslem extremists to rise against the world’s democratic values. The international policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to destabilize the entire region to achieve its expansion programme and to establish its supremacy in the Middle East and the entire Islamic World!

Mr. Khatami is an integral part of the Islamic Republic Regime who remains faithful to the survival of the regime in decisive moments. In July 1999, the heroic students of Tehran University unveiled the demon behind his deceitful face and proved that he and his so called “Reformist” allies are the other side of the same coin as the Islamic Conservatives who strive to oppress the Iranian people and to ravage the natural resources of Iran on the one hand, and to break apart the civilised world’s democratic values and pose a threat to the world’s peace on the other!

The Western Democracy has yet to learn not to fall into the same trap as did the people of Iran by voting him into power in 1997 which is why you have this petition before you!

Awarding Mr. Khatami with an Honorary Degree from your University would be an insult to your own university students and intellectuals, the families of those whom had their loved ones murdered by the Islamic Republic's security agents, the people of Iran, the established Democracy in the United Kingdom and the rest of the civilised and peace loving world.
By doing so, you would undoubtedly be jeopardising the free world's will to maintain its hard earned Democracy during these turbulent times.

By awarding Mr. Khatami with an Honorary Degree of your University, you would be endorsing the legitimacy of one of the most brutal and dictatorial regimes in history and would only legitimise the current subversive policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

We therefore, urge you to withdraw your invitation of Mr. Khatami’s visit to your University and maintain your University's position as a centre of excellence to play its rightful part by standing beside the Iranian people in their struggle to establish a secular system based on Democracy and the International Charter of Human Rights and to promote peace and Democracy throughout the world.

Sincerely,

http://www.petitiononline.com/Kamalfar/petition.html

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To: Russian Immigration authorities and UNHCR in Russia

We are submitting this affidavit to Ms. Zahra Kamalfar’s application for asylum. We unequivocally support Miss Zahra kamalafar’s asylum claim. She would face a serious and well-founded fear of future persecution based on her activities after she reached Russia.

Zahra Kamalfar is an Iranian citizen who had made a refugee claim, together with her two minor children, Ana (DOB 1367-11-02) and Davood (DOB 1373-3-25) through UNHCR in Russia on or about May 3, 2005.

Zahra and her husband were involved in demonstrations in Iran in 2000. In July 8 2004, Zahra arrested and held in jail. Zahra was in jail for 8 months. Then she was released on a 48 hour pass to visit her family. She immediately fled Iran with her two children on April 6 2005. She and her two children went to Turkey. False Bulgarian passport arranged by a smuggler. Zahra and her children traveled from Turkey, transiting through Russia on their way to Germany. When they arrived in Germany, the authenticity of their passports was questioned. Zahra made asylum claims but their asylum claims were refused by German immigration authorities and then they were sent back to Russia. When they returned to Russia, they were detained by the Russian authorities. Russian authorities assaulted her and her daughter. The Russian authorities want to send Zahra and her children back to Iran. Zahra is afraid to return to Iran as she believes she will be sent to jail and at risk of rape, torture and possibly death. She also fears her daughter will be at risk of being sexually assaulted and raped.

The Russian authorities now want to deport the family to Iran; something that the family is convinced will be devastating to their life and safety. The Russian authorities are imposing pressure on the family by having them stranded in the Transit hall of the Moscow International Airport for the months, denying them all access to the most basic needs, including shower, proper food, etc. Regardless of the legalities of their case, this is a clear breach of all human rights principles.

Originally, Zahra and the children were being kept at a hotel at the airport. Several months ago, they were evicted from the hotel and forced to sleep in the open terminal. They have not had access to shower facilities and are restricted to public toilets.

The situation of women in Iran is inhuman, the brutality and violence against women and girls are every day occurrences in Iran. The massacred woman committed by the Iranian Islamic regime can’t be denied or excused. Misogyny, racial apartheid is the norm of the Iranian Islamic regime that women are facing. Nothing can hide the fact that the Iranian Islamic government is anti-woman misogynist and antithetical to women's rights and autonomy.

The Convention on the Rights of the Child sets out the rights that must be realized for children to develop their full potential, free from hunger and want, neglect and abuse. It reflects a new vision of the child. Children are neither the property of their parents nor are they helpless objects of charity. They are human beings and are the subject of their own rights. Despite the existence of rights, children suffer from poverty, homelessness, abuse, neglect, preventable diseases, and unequal access to education and justice systems that do not recognize their special needs. The Untied Nation has proclaimed that childhood is entitled to special care and assistance. The family as the fundamental group of society and the natural environment for the growth and well being of all its members and particularly children should be afforded the necessary protection and assistance so that it can fully assume its responsibilities within the community. For the full and harmonious development of children personality, they should grow up in a family environment in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding.

Miss Zahra Kamalfar would face a serious threat to her life and liberty should she be deported to Iran. Having fled Iran and being an activist against the Iranian regime places her life in danger. She has real reason to fear persecution for her legitimate and peaceful political activism should she be returned to Iran. By deporting Miss Zahra Kamalfar and her children to Iran, who is an activist against the Iranian Regime will in actuality be a preparation of her arrest, torture and then stoning.

Russia acceded to the 1951 Refugee Convention in 1993. As a signatory to the 1951 Refugee Convention, Russia is responsible for carrying out the refugee status determination procedure and granting asylum to those people who are entitled to it.

We strongly urges the Russian immigration authorities and UNHCR in Russia to revisit the Miss Zahra Kamalfar’s case and grant her and her children refugee recognition based on her well-founded fear of future persecution and execution.

Sincerely,

CC: Ms. Angelika Beer

Chair of the Delegation for relations with Iran

Honourable members of the European Parliament,

The structure of every democratic state consists of parliaments and their members, elected by people in an independent environment. Those elected governments can then pass laws and make political decisions, laws which are legitimate and internationally accepted.

Regrettably some of those parliaments pretend to be democratic, but are truly totalitarian and dictatorial governments. They are not true representatives of their people, only taking advantage of the legislative department for their own interests. You can see this in developing countries, particularly in the Middle East.

Historically, Iranians have suffered under such conditions. A recent example would be the manipulated elections in February 2004. It clearly shows the Iranian authorities creating only an illusion of democracy. Instead of a genuine independent election, a pre-selection process was carried out by the Guardian Council - themselves under the influence of the ruling religious hardliners. This controversial practice is utterly undemocratic, self-sustaining for the religious theocracy, and is condemned by the overwhelming majority of Iranians.

Iranians have suffered suppression at the hands of their current regime for far too long now and are desperately seeking international support. They have no vehicle or mechanism for effecting change within their own country. Exhausted by this fruitless search, people of Iran are being governed by a system that has taken away almost all of their personal and social freedoms.

Despite the clear dictatorial nature of the religious rulers in Iran, world governments appear comfortable recognising the Islamic Regime as a valid political assembly, as shown by the increasing economic ties established with Iran over recent years.

We ask you, members of the European Parliament, to defend the spirit of freedom and democracy in our country. We ask you to take a clear stand against the undemocratic parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran. They deserve neither legitimacy nor world recognition. Please help sixty million Iranians to have their voices heard, as they are crying out for democracy, personal liberty, and an end to religious oppression.

In the name of freedom,

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

We, the undersigned, hereby express our condemnation of the forthcoming legislation to implement blanket filtering of Internet traffic in Iran.

The Iranian Government has systematically and methodically denied Iranians the ability to speak freely and communicate with each other and with people outside of the country, through suppression of the national press, television, telephone calls and now the Internet. The free expression of ideas and opinions is cherished by Iranians, and we hold this to be a fundamental human right. We condemn all efforts by governments and telecommunication firms both within Iran and outside of the country who implement restrictions to the free exchange of speech and ideas.

We respectfully request that you place pressure upon both your local and the Iranian governments to reinstate free speech and communication on the Internet, and limit censorship of traffic to material that is universally, unanimously and internationally condemned.

Sincerely,

We the undersigned Iranians:

Mindful of the dangerous situation that our country Iran finds itself today;

Cognizant of the arbitrary and irresponsible behavior of the clerical oligarchy in Iran vis a vis the recent decisions of IAEA and the United Nations Security Council;

Alarmed at the eventual repercussions of the Tehran regime’s plans, policies and behavior for the national interests, and territorial integrity of Iran and safety and security of our people and the region;

Aware of the Tehran clerics desire to acquire the atomic bomb as a guarantor of the longevity of their regime, to subdue other regional powers and to scare still others, in service of export of their revolution;

Considering that during the past twenty-four years the regime of the Ayatollah’s in Iran, has time and time again been branded by the United Nations as a gross and systematic violator of the basic rights and freedoms of the Iranian people as enunciated in the UN Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, to which Iran remains a party and thus obligated to respect;

Further alarmed by the gross and systematic violations of Iranian women’s rights and the right and freedom of national, linguistic, religious and ethnic minorities which has taken the shape of a new system of apartheid;

In view of the above:

We consider it our national and humanitarian duty today to call upon the United Nations to act, as it has done before in cases of Cambodia, South Africa,…. to let Iran’s clerical leadership understand that, to relieve themselves of further national and international burdens and bloodshed it is best for them today to accept the holding of a Yes or No national referendum on the faith of the regime, under the UN auspices and supervision;

We also believe that if Iranians vote to end the present system, the United Nations should take control of the country for a six months period during which time elections will be held for a Constituent Assembly for the preparation of a Constitution which will be presented to the Iranians for approval. The national elections for the new Iranian Parliament will then be held, also under the UN supervision.

We further believe that under such arrangements Iranians would in all probabilities be willing to favor the creation of a “Truth and Reconciliation Commission with similar functions as was the case in South Africa.

To: Prime Minister of Japan
Prime Minister of Japan
Mr. Shinzo Abe
1-6-1 Nagata-cho 1 Chome
Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo 100-8968 JAPAN

Dear Prime Minister Abe,

We are outraged by the annual brutal slaughter of dolphins and whales that takes place in Japan . The images of bloody red water clearly show the world that Japan has little respect for the state of the world’s oceans and for the conservation of the marine resources it claims to support.

Many scientific studies show that the oceans are in decline. We must take whatever actions are necessary to stop their over-exploitation and to protect the creatures that live in them. These dolphins do not belong to Japan . The status of the species of dolphins and whales that you kill are either endangered, threatened, or unknown. It is an unthinkable waste that they will likely end up as a meat product or deceptively sold as whale meat, polluted with toxic levels of mercury and cadmium, killing people that eat it. It is tragic and unacceptable that the remaining dolphins that are not killed will end up destined for death in an aquarium, water park, or "swim with dolphins" program.

In addition, the methods used to kill these animals are cruel.

Corralling the dolphins into bays, then making them suffer a long and painful death by spears, hooks, and drowning is an inhumane way of fishing. This action is disgraceful and has caused much disappointment in the international community.

We demand that Japan permanently and immediately renounce and stop this slaughter. We will work diligently to bring this issue to international light until you have ceased your reprehensible violence.

Sincerely,

To: Free World Elected Officials

It is only a matter of time before the confrontation between the world and Iran 's ruling Mullahs sets off a catastrophic conflagration. The Islamic Republic of Iran, in defiance of the U.N. Security Council Resolution, continues with its dangerous nuclear program, which poses dire consequences for the Iranian people and the world. We call upon the free governments of the world, as well as all other businesses, organizations and individuals to enlist in a non-violent campaign of ending the reign of terror of the belligerent Iranian clerical regime. Governments should enact the following:

* Renounce the use of force for ending the impasse.

* Declare unequivocally the commitment to respect the territorial integrity of Iran, as well as the rights of the Iranians to decide, through a democratic process, all matters pertaining to their life and country.

* Initiate, without delay or equivocation, a comprehensive program of assistance to all democratic Iranian opposition groups, both within as well as outside of Iran, in their struggle to accomplish the regime change themselves.

* Proclaim wide and far, the cardinal reason for taking these measures against the Mullahs' reign of terror is to prevent them from acquiring nuclear weapons, the threat they pose to the region as well as to the world, and the stimulus they provide for other nations to develop their own nuclear arsenal.

* Enforce the U.N. sanctions by inspecting every vessel headed for Iranian ports to make sure they are not ferrying prohibited material. Other than vessels known to be carrying foodstuff and medicine, each ship should be subjected to elaborate inspection.

* Establish an Iran Assistance Fund, from Iran’s frozen assets as well as contributions from peace-loving individuals and organizations, to assist Iranian families during the hardship that the sanctions may create.

* Persuade Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, and other Persian Gulf oil producers to significantly increase their output and drastically cut the price. It is what they must do to help forestall the emergence of a nuclear clerical Iran bent on ruling the region.

* Every user of oil, governments, businesses, and individuals must do their share by severely curtailing their use of oil, to offset any shortages that may arise.

* Obtain court orders to freeze the overseas assets of Iranian leaders, since they are clearly ill-begotten funds that rightfully belong to the nation.

* Shut down, or severely restrict the operation of the Mullahs' businesses in Dubai and other Persian Gulf states.

* Reduce the staff or completely shut down Iranian missions. Severely restrict Iranian officials and nuclear scientists from foreign travel. Recall your ambassadors from Iran.

* Deny the Iranian airlines operation and encourage non-Iranian airlines to cease serving the country. Provide for flights that serve emergency medical and other health needs of the Iranians.

* File legal charges against the leaders of the Islamic Republic's wanton violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; for their crimes against humanity, genocidal actions against religious and political groups; for support of international terrorism; for demolition of religious sites and cemeteries; for rape, torture, and summary execution of prisoners of conscience; for forgery of documents, for acts of blackmail and fraud, and much more.

* Declare and treat the clerical regime as illegitimate.

* Stop or slow down Iran's import of refined petroleum products.

* Shut down the Islamic Republic's web sites and block their television and radio broadcasts.

* Seize the regime's front organizations such as the Alavi Foundation in New York City.

* Identify the agents of the Islamic Republic and prosecute them as promoters of international terrorism.

* Investigate individuals and organizations that lobby or front for the Islamic Republic.

* Take all necessary steps to stop investments in Iran. Persuade banks to refrain from dealing with Iran and the issuance of letters of credit.

* Pressure businesses to stop dealing with Iran.

* Pressure governments to stop doing business with Iran. Warn countries such as China and Russia against circumventing the U.N. resolution and engaging in commercial adventurism.

We, the undersigned, are greatly concerned that the confrontational course of the illegitimate clerical regime of Iran may ignite the flame of war. We urge the leadership as well as people of the world to join in the non-violent campaign of dislodging the mullahs and helping Iranians to establish a secular democracy. The Iran problem is both serious and urgent. It is a world problem. A warning to the world governments and others: You need to act now. Apathy is sleep. If you sleep, we will all weep.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
