To: Western political leaders
Tiener homojongens geexecuteerd in Iran (English version below)

Afgelopen week werden twee homojongeneren in Iran geëxecuteerd.

Wij roepen:
-Onze regeringen op om de executies van de twee homojongeren scherp te veroordelen;
-Onze regeringen op om asielzoekers met als gegeven grond homoseksualiteit, niet terug te sturen naar Iran
-Onze regeringen op om politieke en economische sancties aan Iran op te leggen;
-Europa op om de onderhandelingen over een associatief verdrag met Iran op te schorten.

Laat je stem horen en sluit je aan met je proteststem. Samen maken we een verschil en roepen we onze regeringen op tot actie!

***********************************************************************

Gay teenagers executed in Iran

This week two gay teenagers were executed in Iran. Their only 'crime' was their sexual orientation.
After more than a year of imprisonment, where they had already been punished with 226 lashes, both guys
were hanged publicly on July 19th 2005. Mahmoud Asgari (16) and Ayaz Marhoni (1Cool are the next victims in Iran
in long series of execution upon basis of homosexual behaviour.

These barbarian and medieval events have to stop immediately.

Gay & Lesbian organisations, Human Rights organisations, Nobel Peace laureate Shirin Ebadi, and even the Oposition in Iran are sharply judging the executions of these teenagers.

We call upon:
-Our governments to sharply judge the execution of these gay teenagers;
-Our governments to not send back to Iran asylum-seekers upon basis of their homosexuality;
-Our goverments to reprimand Iran with economical and political sanctions;
-Europe to suspend the negations on a associative treaty with Iran.

Let your voice be heard! Together we hope to make an effort to call upon our governments, asking them to make a strong signal towards the Iranian government.

Sincerely,

Dear Madams / Sirs,

The world has a huge legal problem at hand: A group, with a proven track-record of extreme atrocities, seized the political apparatus of a modern “nation-state” 26 years ago – a nation with a three-thousand-years-old history that had begun with pronounced concerns for human rights, a nation that was a founding member of the United Nations, a country known an “Iran.”

Apart from the fact that the whole world has experienced hardship due to this take-over, those who have been deeply suffering are the people of Iran. The majority of them have been struggling to get rid of this unexpected nightmare and, for a quarter of century, have been exposed to non-stop workings of this horrendous machine of torture and execution.

Recently, an “internal” report on the conditions of prisons in Iran, surprisingly prepared by an officer of the regime’s justice department, has painted such a bleak picture that no honorable member of the human race can move his/her head away and ignore the plight of this suffering nation.

Apart from the atrocities of the regime’s agents towards non-political prisoners, there are many documented reports that show the worsening condition of prisoners of conscious in Iran. These prisoners, who are the best and most knowledgeable men and women of their society whose numbers are constantly on the rise, have committed no crime. They have just spoken up and/or have written about the injustices, atrocities and corruption of this regime. Recent reports show that the exercise of torture and putting physical and psychological pressures on them has been on rise. Your honorable colleague, Dr. Shirin Ebadi, the Noble Prize Laureate of 2003, who is the defense attorney of some of these prisoners, has constantly been barred from performing her legal duties in this respect. She, together with a huge number of human rights activists, have reported these problems to world organizations in many occasions.

Through this futile experience we, the undersigned, have come to realize that no individual government and no United Nations organization has the ability or stamina to challenge this inhumane situation. Nevertheless, we cannot possibly give up hope. We are sure that there are other organizations and conscientious legal professionals in the world who are poised to have a deeper look at the situation in Iran and get acquainted with the atrocities of its legal system. We know that by taking up such a case as an international legal issue they will create a new precedence that could help other nations who are or will be caught in the web of a ferocious and blood-thirsty political machine.

It is upon these assumptions that we, some advocates of human rights in all its dimensions and capacities, see no other resort but to address the conscious of your members, begging them to study this case and, based on their knowledge and experience, come up with a legal solution that could end the miseries inflicted by a group of ruthless thugs on an innocent.

We impatiently look forward to hear from you and, in the meanwhile, will keep this petition open on the Internet, so that anyone interested could join our desperate clamor for help. We will keep you posted on the new signatures they are added every day.

To: Honorable President George W. Bush

Mr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Khamenei selected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s forthcoming trip to New York to attend the United Nations Meeting has raised many eyebrows inside and outside Iran.

The thought of a man who was a major part of the 1979 U.S. embassy take over and hostage taking in Iran, who suddenly has become the President of an " axis’ of evil" regime, coming to the country whose diplomats he helped take hostage and to the city of New York where thousands of innocent people were brutally killed on September 11, 2001, at the hands of terrorist fundamentalists like him is indeed insulting to say the least.

This would be anther case of a comedy of errors. A hostage taker at the U.N General Assembly podium, what a message that one is going to send to the world brotherhood of terrorists.

Is a criminal hostage taker qualified to be given the privilege of diplomatic immunities? If he is granted a visa we denounce his visit and wish to announce to the world that this person in no way represents the of people of Iran who are peace loving people, and who have been hostages at the hands of this terrorist regime for the past 26 years. We also reserve the right of holding a peaceful demonstration denouncing Mr. Ahmadinejad’s presence at the session.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

To: Honorable Koffi A. Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations, Honorable leaders of the Free World, Honorable Citizens of the Planet Earth
Recently, the handpicked President of the illegitimate body of government in Iran, President Ahmadinejad of the Islamic Republic, has been publicly and without any provocation denouncing the existence of the state of Israel. He has called for Israel “to be wiped off the map”, and claimed that "the Holocaust was a myth".

Iranian people neither agree with the handpicked President Ahmadinejad’s comments, nor have any such desire to eradicate the people of Israel. As a matter of fact, Iranians are very proud of the action of their champion of human rights, Cyrus the Great. It was this great Persian trailblazer of human rights who freed the Jews from captivity and promoted freedom of culture, religion and beliefs in the vast empire under his rule, something we wish to follow.

Mr. Ahmadinejad's glorifying resume is filled with crimes against humanity. Mr. Ahmadinejad was involved in storming the US embassy in Tehran and holding 52 American hostages for 444 days in the aftermath of the 1979 Iranian revolution. Six former American hostages have confirmed that indeed they believe Mr. Ahmadinejad was among their captors. He is also responsible for the suppression of dissidents in Iran and terrorist attacks abroad.

Mr. Peter Pilz, an Austrian MP, said he had "very convincing" evidence that Mr. Ahmadinejad - a former revolutionary guard and torturer- was involved in the murders of Dr. Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou, with two other Kurdish activists in Vienna.

On behalf of those silenced in Iran by its illegitimate government, we, the Iranians abroad, along with the people of the world, strongly and unequivocally condemn the pogrom against the Jews by the selected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

We are asking the world community to exert maximum pressure against the Islamic Republic to behave in a civilized manner and to bow to the will of its people. However, if they refuse, they must be censured and expelled from the United Nations.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

To: All Free World Leaders

Tehran University is the oldest and largest scientific, educational and research centre of Iran which is referred to as “Mother University” and it is considered as the symbol of higher education. Tehran University is considered as one of the pioneers of the society in important scientific, cultural, political and social affairs. It is such that besides its old role in political and social changes of the country, its remarkable impact in the scientific-cultural development of the society is also undeniable.

Tehran University was established in 1934 although the history of University in Iran dates back to the year 1851 where a polytechnic, known locally as "Darolfonoon", aiming at training and teaching Iranian experts on many fields of sciences.

Over the years Tehran University has produced and offered to the society many distinguished technocrats and intellectuals. Until the revolt of 1979 Tehran University was held in high esteem by most of the highly respected Universities in the world and its qualifications were highly respected and valued. Today a number of highly respected academic posts outside Iran and in USA in particular are occupied by the ex-graduates of Tehran University.

In an unprecedented move, the newly appointed government of Ahmadi-Nezhad and with a great deal of haste has appointed a cleric as the new chief of the University. The new chancellor is Ayatollah Amid Zanjani, a notorious religious prosecutor in the 1980s.

Never before in its glorious history has Tehran University been subjected to such humiliation of a having imposed on it a Chancellor with no academic background. The newly imposed Chancellor's only credential, other than a high school diploma, is the theological teaching he has received in religious school known as Madreseh.

Tehran University students have been so outraged and angered at this insult that they have resorted to massive demonstrations and are demanding the resignation of the newly imposed Chancellor. They are also planning many more demonstration in the very near future.

The choice of such a chancellor has no reason other than to control the only remaining relatively free establishment left in the country. By this appointment the government of Ahmadi-Nezhad hopes to smother any remaining opposition to its reactionary plans.

Iran of Tomorrow Movement (IOTM), whose members are all University educated and technocrats, considers its duty to oppose such unprecedented move and the appointment as Chancellor of such an unworthy individual with such notorious background.

IOTM considers this move as an assault on the academic world and an insult to the educated people of the world and Tehran University in particular.

Therefore, we request from all the University students all over the world to show your solidarity with Tehran University student and by voicing your concern and bewilderment and anger against the appointment of a notorious religious prosecutor as the Chancellor of a highly respected academic institution.

Please give us your support and demonstrate your anger by being vocal and by supporting our petition against this appointment.

Sincerely,

View Iran's territorial integrity to be paramount above all and strongly condemn any policies or entities that seeks to harm Iran's territorial cohesion.

The American president has gone so far as to unequivocally state that "America believes in the independence and territorial integrity of Iran"‌ and it is therefore regretful to hear that a credible and well-known think-tank, the American Enterprise Institute, has organized a conference on Iran where the panelists are all separatists.

We hope the American Enterprise Institute takes greater care when organizing conferences that seek to infringe upon Iran's territory.

We urge AEI, as a token of respect for Iranians and to help clarify its position that it does not seek to instigate or promote secession in Iran, by only having the Iran Lion and Sun flag on display as the only Iranian flag present at the conference cited above.

Long Live IRAN

News coming out of Iran clearly shows that in the aftermath of the security forces attack on Tehran bus drivers who were on strike, a score of their children have been beaten and arrested along with their parents.

The second part of the second article of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, that Iran is a signatory of, clearly declares that “States Parties shall take all appropriate measures to ensure that the child is protected against all forms of discrimination or punishment on the basis of the status, activities, expressed opinions, or beliefs of the child's parents, legal guardians, or family members.”
Accordingly, we, the undersigned, request your prompt action in investigating the case of these children and exerting your utmost pressure on the government of Islamic Republic of Iran to protect these innocent children from further atrocities of the security agents.

Petition 24: A Call to Protect Civil Rights for All Iranians By American Harvard University Students

Sign the Petition NOW

http://www.iranfreedomconcert.com/petition.htm

The crisis over Iran's nuclear program has overshadowed the brutal repression of Iranians by the "Guardian Council" of unelected clerics, headed by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Most Iranians (70%) are under the age of 30 and face an array of laws that restrict basic rights of self-expression. In Iran:
-You can be sentenced to death because of your religious beliefs.
-Criticizing the Supreme Leader on your blog is a crime.
-Women are barred from attending most sporting events.
-Concerts with live singing and mixed seating are banned.
-Women are stoned to death for adultery.
-Gay teenagers are hanged.
-The Supreme Leader has issued a fatwa against women riding bicycles in public.

We who live in freedom recognize that Iranians are denied rights we take for granted. We also recognize that many Iranians, despite overwhelming restrictions, are trying to open up their society through non-violent activism. In particular, hundreds of students are leading a movement for civil rights and freedom.

We stand in solidarity with the Iranian student movement, and we will not remain silent as they face a brutal crackdown from the ruling clerics. We stand in solidarity with the thousands of imprisoned journalists, bloggers, and labor organizers - including prominent dissident Akbar Ganji.

We call upon world leaders to condemn civil rights repression in Iran and to hold the Iranian regime accountable. The fundamental rights of all Iranians cannot be held hostage to diplomatic maneuverings over Iran's nuclear program.

We pledge our support to Iranians struggling to secure basic freedoms, and we will not rest until their civil rights movement succeeds.

To: FIFA, AFC, IOC, AND THE SPORTS AUTHORITIES OF IRAN

Football is a game both men and women of all ages play and enjoy. It is also a game that in most parts of the world is enjoyed by all on the stands and at homes. Sadly, Iranian women are not allowed to enter the stadiums to watch their national team play for glory. This unfortunate phenomenon took a turn for worse when those women who attempted to attend a football match between Iran’s national team and Costa Rica on March 1st at the Azadi Stadium were met with violence. Forty eight hours later, That was followed by expulsion of over 2000 female spectators at the World Cup of Gymnastics event from another venue of Azadi Sports Complex.
We the undersigned individuals of this petition express our outrage for the gender discrimination as it relates to allowing women into Azadi and other stadiums in Iran. Furthermore, we condemn the acts of violence committed against those women who attempted to enter Tehran’s Azadi Stadium prior to Iran – Costa Rica match on March 1st, 2006.
Our demand is clear and simple:
Women must unconditionally be allowed to attend any and all sporting events in Iran if they choose so.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

Protest the Legitimization of Islamic Regime by the United Nations

Tehran chief prosecutor Saeed Mortazavi who is responsible for numerous imprisonments, tortures and executions in Iran is going to represent the Islamic Regime in the first session of the newly formed UN Human Rights Commission.

As reported by the Human Rights Watch and many other Human rights organizations, Saeed Mortazavi has spearheaded the judiciary?s attack on press freedoms since the crackdown began in 2000. He is responsible for the closure of numerous newspapers, as well as the arrests and prosecution of journalists, which is detailed in the recent Human Right Watch report on Iran .

I strongly believe that it is a mockery of human rights if the chief prosecutor of a terrorist regime and one of the most notorious abusers of human rights, is allowed to sit on the human rights commission. Please don't allow the legitimization of a regime that has been systematically violating human rights from the day of its inception.

Petition 27: Persian Gulf will remain persian

http://www.petitiononline.com/persian/petition.html

To: National Geographic Society
Dear National Geographic Editors,

We the undersigned, through this letter, protest your irresponsible and unscientific actions.

This letter is in concern of publication of a map by your organization, which, according to all international organizations, is fraudulent and distorted, and its publication guarantees the violation of undeniable international legal rights.

It is a proven scholarly fact that the name of the Persian Gulf is a genuine name, with historical roots, and using any fraudulent names such as the “Arabian Gulf”, and islands “Occupied by Iran” is in fact inducing political animosity.

We did not expect National Geographic, as a prestigious international scientific institution, to ignore the proven obvious, and damage its own reputation on the basis of political intentions, and thus create an atmosphere of public mistrust in its content, and hurt the national pride of the millions of Persian speakers while doing so.

While announcing our disgust at such a heresy, we demand an immediate editorial review and correction of this publication by the National Geographic.

Sincerely,

To: Policy makers-foreign affairs-
IRANIAN AZARBAIJANIS ETERNALLY REMAIN INTEGRAL COMPATRIOTS IN SHAPING THE HISTORY AND LIFE OF IRAN

We the worldwide signatories herein comprised of educators, scholars, historians and all those with a basic knowledge of the historical perspective of South and Central Asia, and Asia Minor, do hereby express our grave concern over a recent move by shadowy individuals and financed centers with arteriole motives that are attempting to portray Iranian Azerbaijanis as victims of 'cultural' and 'linguistic' discrimination in Iran. The historical community regards this act as an affront to all Iranians including the Azarbaijanis of Iran. A petition circulating on the Internet on this topic deliberately misleads the reader into believing that the current regime in Iran, notwithstanding its rather poor human and democratic rights records as applied to the 70 million Iranians across the board, is selectively targeting one ethnic group for 'discrimination' when in fact a large number of grievances run widely across regional and political strata. Moreover, the aforementioned petition deliberately fails to address the powerful historical and contemporary influence and contributing position of Iranian Azarbaijanis in the political (both within Iran and the Diaspora), cultural, historical and commercial life of Iran.

Iran as a nation with great many diverse ethnicities since its inception of nearly three years ago has been a multilingual nation and all languages are equal. The inscriptions of Darius the Great of the Achaemenid dynasty (circa 325 BCE) are in four languages: Aramaic, Babylonian, Elamite and Old Persian. The Persian language has been a national vernacular employed by Iran's widely diverse ethnic and linguistic groups as a common cultural bond. The said petition also fails to address the fact that Azari-Turkish is freely spoken across Iran, especially in the capital Tehran where Iranians Azeris comprise the majority.

Finally, the failure of the petition is in its failing attempt to narrate issues in divisively ethnic terms (Group A is oppressing Group B) when in fact the issues stem from a complex myriad of political and economic factors that directly affect the entire spectrum of Iran's multivaried population. The petition has been carefully crafted to avoid its identification with separatist movements; however, this is contradicted by a quick study of its language and that of the SANAM movement website of Mr. Mahmoudali Chehreganli. The photographs of the website depict SANAM supporters flashing the Grey Wolf insignia, the official salute of the violently racist pan-Turanian Grey Wolf movement. Pan-Turanian groups are notorious in their attempts at re-narrating history and the fabrication of grievances to help further violent and divisive racialist motives. Protests against pan-Turanian attempts at historical revisionism in western universities and false accusations of human rights violations at world platforms such as the UN have been repeatedly lodged by Armenian and Greek academics over a number of years, as they grieve for their historical recognition of Armenian genocide and oppressive subjugation of the Greeks, respectively.

Any application of 'cultural genocide' on the Azerbaijanis would be fatally detrimental to the culture of Iran as much of what and who Iran is today is indebted to Azerbaijanis such as Sattar Khan, Bagher Khan, Shah Abbas or Shams Tabrizi. While the writers of the cited petition couch their language in the name of language rights and how Persian is being "imposed" on the Azeris, they conveniently fail to mention that Azerbaijan has been a key centre for the development of Persian language and literature, and in all likelihood the birth place of Zoroaster, the founder of the monotheistic Zoroastrian religion, for over several thousand years.

Reference: More atrocities against women in Iran

Once again the occupying regime in Iran resorted to beatings and arrests of freedom seeking women of our nation on June 12th 2006 in Tehran.

Nearly 100 women were arrested by security forces in a savage clampdown at a peaceful demonstration by several thousand Iranian women in ?Seven Tir? Square demanding equal rights.

We strongly condemn this barbaric act and voice our concerns on any attempts by the six-nation negotiation team to appease the regime in Tehran to comply with the IAEA?s demands.

The international community should consider the mistreatment of the Iranian people by this gang of hooligans as threat to civilization by the Islamic regime.

We believe that the empowerment of people of Iran against this regime is one of the most appropriate courses of action open to everyone with a conscience.

We would appreciate your strongest condemnation of these beatings and arrests and your demand for immediate and unconditional release of the innocent detainees.
