Honorable Mr Jakob Kellenberger,
I am writing to you on behalf of the Iranians who are concerned about their national tradition and legacy.
On the 27th of July 1929 the Geneva Convention recognized the Red lion and sun as the official emblem for Iran instead of the Red Cross. The history of the Lion and the sun can each be traced many thousand years back into the Iranian history. One of the keys to Iranians success to keep their identity is that they recognized their heritage. Disregarding our differences in religious beliefs, political ideology and ethnic background we all consider ourselves guardians of our past.
On 4th of July 1980 the Islamic Republic of Iran denounced the use of the red lion and sun. This came as a surprise to those who had great hopes for future Iran while others had anticipated the outcome of the Islamic regime. It didn’t take long to comprehend the nature of the Islamic republic; another attempt to put an end to Iranian identity. An attempt that is not rare and unusual in Iran’s History. The nature of the Islamic Republic and its hidden agenda was out in the open when the Islamic Regime tried to ban the oldest Iranian tradition, Norouz.
Repeatedly we have witnessed the Islamic Regimes attempt to enforce the religious holydays instead of the Iranian holydays. Iranian names are being replaced by the Arabic and Islamic names while the Islamic Regime unsuccessfully tries to eliminate the pride of the Iranian custom.
While there are endless reports and evidence about the corruption, one may be able to understand the nature of the Islamic Republic by looking at the Amnesty International Report 2002 and the Public executions that these days take place so often. It is worth mentioning that while Palestinian orphans are raised up to work as mercenaries and protect the Islamic Republic against the Iranians, Iranian national recourses are on sale for European countries in order to feed the terrorist organization like Hammas and Hizbullah. Recent reports from Italian intelligence prove the safe heaven Islamic Republic has created for top Al- Queda members.
In short, the Islamic Regime has proved to be an invading force and by no means representatives of the Iranian people. Iranians have denounced this regime many years ago and its existence is only made possible by the mercenaries it posses.
I would like to direct your attention to the diplomatic conference of Geneva of 1949. Where according to documents “Convention (I) for the Amelioration of the Condition of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the Field” and clarifications which were made as regards to use of the emblems (Article 44), Preservation of the red cross, the red crescent and the red lion and sun were acknowledged and remained as the only recognized emblems until today.
Your honor, Marzeporgohar Party has and continues to struggle for our freedom with specific focus to bring back secularism and democracy to our beloved country. While mobilizing our forces inside and outside Iran, Marzeporgohar would officially like to declare the reclaim of the red lion and sun and its active use by Marzeporgohar Party. As a Party who represents a division of Iranians, we will encourage our members and other Iranian parties and organizations to use the red lion and sun for their humanitarian helps until the day our nation is able to make a decision made by a secular democratic government.
Sincerely Yours
Mani Aryamand
Party Secretary of Marzeporgohar Party
Iranians for Secular Republic
