We agree with you that defending the universal values of democracy, human rights, civil liberties, and the rule of law, and condemning the unacceptable violence against the peaceful demonstrators, is not meddling in internal Iranian affairs.

Nelson Mandela and his colleagues received important support from the leaders of many countries and international organizations. That international support was an important factor in the victory of the South
African people against the Apartheid regime. Pro-democracy activists in Poland, Hungary and many other countries also received international support that helped them to replace despotic regimes with democratic
governments. These are examples of the kind of support that the Iranian people request from all enlightened governments and individuals in the world.

President Obama Iran's policy failed because he did not listen to FREE Iran ActivistChat recommendations which is based on Sakharov's view.
The connection Sakharov saw between the violation of human rights and international violence has become increasingly recognized. Scholars find that nations with broad and solid political rights (that is, democracies) have rarely if ever warred on one another. But repression at home often leads to conflict abroad. See this essay (S. Weart) and this Democratic Peace site (R.J. Rummel).

Decision 2008 Priorities : U.S. Foreign and Energy Policy General Common Sense Expectations and Demands

We are the citizens of the United States of America who represent the majority of the American people who strongly adhere to the following beliefs:

1) We believe in the concept of complete secularism in government, which generally means complete separation of the State from religion, or any ideology or philosophy which can be interpreted as religious (e. g. Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islamism, Judaism, etc., or extreme ideologies such as Fascism or Communism). Secularism can be considered as common sense versus Ideology.

2) Democracy without secularism and secular parties cannot survive and continue a tradition of freedom of choice when a non-secular regime comes to power, as demonstrated by the Nazi party in Germany, the Khomeinist regime in Iran, and more recently by the Hamas Party in Palestine. This principle has been proven historically many times and in many countries.

3) When there is religious intervention in the affairs of the public and the State, then it become necessary to make public the fact that a religion or its precepts have influenced governmental institutions. It becomes a duty of citizens, in the interests of freedom, to work to remove that religious influence, and restore secular governance.

We believe that, in this century, real change starts with breakthroughs in less expensive and environmentally less-harmful energy sources such as hydrogen fuels, solar power, wind power, and geo-thermal energy, representing possibly safer alternatives to fossil fuels. The greatest changes for the better will be delivered by the world’s brilliant engineering minds, not politicians (Democrats or Republicans) who, for the past 40 years, have virtually ignored support for research in alternative sources of energy.

We recommend that support for qualified candidates for public office be based on past good deeds and public service, independent of political party affiliation or pre-assigned tags of left, center, right, liberal or conservative.

Our future expectations of policy makers and leaders with regard to foreign policy are defined by a new set of criteria based on test cases designed to be able to measure success and failure more objectively. Our recommended test cases and criteria are based on the vision of the founding fathers of the United States of America and those philosophies that informed them, including the works of Cyrus the Great, and Plato. We believe that this ancient and enduring spirit of freedom was embodied in the U.S. Constitution, and includes the following elements:

1- The implementation of a secular democracy
2- The implementation of enduring and inalienable Human/Women’s Rights
3- The implementation of a Free and Responsible Society
4- The promulgation of freedom and human rights at global level
5- The intent to gather moral and international support for the rejection of all religiously-based, gender-biased, racially-biased or apartheid, and ideologically extreme governments, realizing that these governments are a main source of creating fearful societies and terrorism in the world.

Independently of who is chosen for public office in the elections of 2008, we resolve to remain vigilant, and to continue to pressure elected officials to move in the aforementioned directions, to help assure a better future for all freedom-loving, secularist peoples. We will continue to make use of any communication media available to us in order to further this cause. The struggle toward a better future will not end with any one election, and we will always remember that only Truth, Honesty, and Integrity have survived, and will survive, the test of time and history.

Quick Overview of the Vision of Cyrus the Great:
Cyrus the Great, the father of first Human Rights declaration over 2500 years ago, advocated the abolition of slavery and ethnic or racial discrimination, freedom to choose one's place of residence, freedom of religious belief, and the establishment of peace among nations. Such ideas are still alive and are clearly esteemed by all those who believe in human dignity and human rights. The Persians regarded Cyrus The Great as The Father, the Babylonians regarded him as The Liberator, the Greeks called him the Law-Giver, and the Jews called him the Anointed of the Lord. Prof. Richard Frye of Harvard University is quoted as saying, “…Surely the concept of One World, and the fusion of peoples and cultures in one 'Oecumen', was one of [Cyrus the Great’s] important legacies”. Therefore, Cyrus the Great is considered to be one of the greatest political leaders and liberators of all time. October 29th has been designated as the international day of Cyrus the Great, king of Persia , who declared the first charter of human rights in the world, which is also known as the ‘Cyrus Cylinder’.

The Vision of the American Founding Fathers:
The founding fathers -- George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, John Adams -- are extraordinarily impressive revolutionary figures, with unique educational influences. Recent research by historians has found that Cyrus The Great’s Book by Xenophon, and ‘The Prince’ by Machiavelli, were required reading among the American Revolutionary Founding Fathers. Personal copies of these books owned by Founding Fathers exist in Library of Congress. The drafting of the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution was, however, more influenced by Cyrus The Great’s leadership and vision than Machiavelli. Cyrus The Great’s leadership vision is based on the ideas of a free society, human rights, sound moral values and a high code of ethics, versus the Machiavellian vision based on a fearful society, with perhaps immoral and unethical means advocated in order to control society. The American Founding Fathers were not essentially Machiavellian, and that is why they were able to create a great foundation upon which to build a nation.

We should try to find an answer to the following question: How could the founding fathers have achieved so much in such a short period of time, while current generations seemingly cannot achieve nearly as much, although endowed with far superior technological power and knowledge?

To safeguard our freedoms, we always remember James Madison’s famous statement: "If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself [italics ours]. A dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government; but experience has taught mankind the necessity of auxiliary precautions.” The Federalist No. 51 (James Madison).

In just three years Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran's controversial president,
has become a household name. It is worth noting that for a man whose
name is mentioned so much, not much is known about him and his past.
Indeed, even his official biography lacks a lot of information. But grasping
who is Ahmadinejad and where he comes from proves how dangerous this
man really is.
Ahmadinejad was born in 1956 to a poor family. In his just-released book,
"The Bomb and the Koran," French journalist Michel Taubmann masterly
delved into Ahmadinejad's biography.
Taubmann unveils many unknown facts about the current Iranian president:
for instance, his mother's name is Sayeed Khanom, which indicates that she
is a descendant of the Prophet; but his father's pedigree is much less
glorious. His name was originally Sabarian, which is most certainly an Arabic
name (an insult for most Iranians).
Interestingly his father whose first name was Ahmad changed his family
name to Ahmadinejad, which could translate in "of the race of the prophet"
since Ahmad was one of the multiple names used by the prophet.
At the early age of seven, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had a revelation in the
person of Ayatollah Khomeini.
So, unsurprisingly, in 1979, at the onset of the Islamic Revolution, he
became a member of the radical Office for Strengthening Unity (OSU) that
was established by Ayatollah Beheshti (a key Khomeini collaborator) to fight
off the Mujahedeen e-Khalq group.
While reports on Ahmadinejad's presence among the captors of the U.S.
embassy in Tehran remain so far somewhat unconfirmed, what is almost
sure is that Ahmadinejad had a hand in the planning of the operation. He
also allegedly suggested storming the Soviet embassy at the same time as
the United States.

During the Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988), he joined the special forces of the
Islamic Revolution Guards Corps and became one of the senior commanders
of the elite Qods (Jerusalem) Force.
According to the Baztab Web site, close to former Iranian president Akhbar
Hashemi Rafsanjani, Ahmadinejad was a close associate of Ayatollah
Malahati, who was among the people that set up Iran's terrorist activities.
Malahati reportedly supervised the Oct. 23, 1983 Beirut terror attacks
against the U.S. Marines and French soldiers barracks that killed 241 U.S.
servicemen and 58 French paratroopers.
In his new role Ahmadinejad allegedly planned assassinations in the Middle East and Europe of opponents to the regime, such as the Kurdish leader Qasselou in July 1989 in Vienna.

Also, Ahmadinejad has reportedly been linked to a plot to kill British author Salman Rushdie. According to Taubmann, citing the famous Iranian poet Nemat Azarm, Ahmadinejad is behind the gruesome murder – of charismatic opposition leader MD Kazem Sami in 1988. His body was systematically cut in pieces with a knife.

Not only numerous credible stories accuse Ahmadinejad of several murders, but he also earned a reputation of a callous torturer. In fact, according to several sources, Ahmadinejad worked in the infamous Evin prison where he was nicknamed "The Executioner" because he was the one inflicting the coup de grace to some prisoners.

Murder
Dr. Sami was murdered in his private medical clinic in 1989, under suspicious circumstances. He is believed to be one of the first victims of the Chain murders of Iran.[1]

Dr. Kazem Sami Kermani was Iran's minister of health in the transitional government of Mehdi Bazargan and leader of the Iranian Nation Liberation Movement (JAMA), an offshoot of Freedom Movement of Iran, a liberal religious-nationalist movement affiliated with National Front of Iran.

LinkedinDiggFacebookMixxMySpaceYahoo! BuzzPermalinkKazem Sami, Iran's first Health Minister after the 1979 Islamic revolution, was killed last Wednesday, the Iranian press agency said on Saturday.

The assailant, posing as a patient at a clinic, stabbed Dr. Sami in the head, chest and arms, the agency said. There was no arrest or motive reported.

Also interestingly, according to Iran Resist, he was allegedly at the end of
the 1990s the representative in Lebanon of the "Martyr's Foundation" that
finances the Lebanese Shiite outfit Hezbollah. He has reportedly close
relations with Hezbollah's chief Hassan Nasrallah that he met during training
in North Korea.
When he became mayor of Tehran in 2003, he started implementing a very
radical Islamist policy, forcing male city employees to wear beards and long
sleeves along with setting up separate elevators for men and women in
municipal offices.
This is not a surprise since even though Ahmadinejad is not from a clerical
background, he is a very pious and religious man. Actually everything for
him revolves around theology.

In September 2005, during his speech at the United Nations, Ahmadinejad
said that he saw all the heads of state gathered blinded by a divine light
while angels were circling above his head!
Ahmadinejad adheres to the Hojjatieh's interpretation of Shiism which holds
a very messianic and apocalyptic view of the world. It actually predicts a
period of universal chaos before the return of the Mahdi (the 12th imam,
also known as the hidden imam).
Interestingly even radical Ayatollah Khomeini banned Hojjatieh Shiism in
1983, but it was recently revived. Ahmadinejad sees politics as the
"continuation of war by other means." When asked by students to define
"what's the most beautiful for a Muslim on earth," he answered very matter
of fact: "To kill and be killed."
Ahmadinejad is convinced that he has been chosen by God to hasten the
Mahdi's return. The way to achieve this goal for the Iranian president is the
occurrence of a nuclear Holocaust. And this is why it is so vital for
Ahmadinejad that Iran acquires a nuclear weapon.
Unfortunately many people in the West miss that point, while this proves
beyond any doubt how serious and determined Ahmadinejad is about getting
the Bomb.

Mojtaba Khamenei

Payvand.com - Unsourced reports are circulating that British banks have frozen $1.6 billion in funds belonging to Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the supreme leader. This supposed affront is cited as another reason for displeasure with Britain in high places in Iran.

"The total assets frozen in the UK under the EU (European Union) and UN sanctions against Iran are approximately 976,110,000 pounds," Ian Pearson, Britain's Economic Secretary to the Treasury said in a written statement to parliament on Thursday.

The statement did not give any further details.

Mojtaba Khamenei has emerged as one of the driving forces behind the government's crackdown, diplomats and observers said, as reported in a Guardian article published on June 22nd. Also, according to some Iran analysts, Khamenei, 70, is maneuvering to position his son as his successor.

The Basij (Persian: بسيج) (literally "Mobilization"; also Basij-e Mostaz'afin, literally "Mobilization of the Oppressed"; officially Nirouye Moqavemate Basij, literally "Mobilisation Resistance Force") is a paramilitary volunteer militia founded by the order of the Ayatollah Khomeini in November 1979. The Basij are subordinate to, and receive their orders from, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and current Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

The force has been widely used in order to control the widescale protests following the 2009 Iranian presidential election. According to Iranian state-run media reports, eight of the 20 killed during the protests were members of Basij.

Consisting of young Iranians who volunteer to join this force, the Basij are most notable for their loyalty to the supreme leader Khamenei. Currently Basij serve as an auxiliary force engaged in activities such as internal security as well law enforcement auxiliary, the providing of social service, organizing of public religious ceremonies, and more controversially morals policing and the suppression of dissident gatherings. They have a local organization in almost every city in Iran.

Press Conference – Paris, France

Opening Remarks

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Thank you for coming. Thank you for your time, and attention to the cry for freedom and democracy in Iran. The past three weeks, my brave compatriots have paid in blood the price of ripping the façade of acceptability of the regime in Iran, and its legitimacy to speak for the people of Iran abroad. The ensuing murderous oppression can silence the streets, and media blackout can reduce world attention. In the West you may see headlines declaring the end of the protests. Some will say a family quarrel inside the Islamic regime is over and Mr. Ahmadinejad will govern Iran for another four year term. But they misread the situation. Although more demonstrations may pop up, and the 10th anniversary of the student uprising on July 9th is a date to watch, phase one, that is election-related mass demonstrations is over. But let me clarify what phase two, which is the phase of national resistance, will look like:

Viewed as a usurper in his second term, Mr. Ahmadinejad's increasing insecurity at home will compel him to invent foreign enemies, further isolating Iran. Compounded with low oil prices, the need for slower liquidity growth to limit spiraling inflation, with massive capital flight and a drained stock market, and a further hemorrhage of skilled managers, just to name a few problems, he will face insurmountable obstacles in running the day to day affairs of government. He will need a minimal cooperation of the people for the ship of state to sail on. Instead he will find burgeoning resistance everywhere, until his government grinds to a halt.

Disappointed and alarmed, influential clerics, important parliamentary factions and other institutions will question his ability to cope and undermine his authority from within the Islamist state. That final paralysis will mark the end of the second phase.

It is hard to predict the third phase. Will a part of the Revolutionary Guards move in to fill the vacuum created by a collapse of authority and a functioning government? If so, the regime will be reduced to an unsustainably narrow base of support, expediting its fall. Will strikes spread and re-energized mass demonstrations sweep the country, compelling the authorities to yield to public pressure toward a new democratic order? No exact scenario can be written at this stage, but the end is clear.

Fast rewind to today, let's acknowledge that the path is perilous. The regime has just appointed a three-man commission to punish those involved in recent demonstrations. The commissioners are men responsible for tortures and summary executions of thousands of my countrymen some twenty years ago. After all of these years, the sounds of rape, torture and dying in Iran's prisons haunt my countrymen. And now those men are back.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Today I am asking you to help put the spotlight of international attention on their dastardly deeds in the weeks ahead. This may be the only way of impeding the cruelty of this regime against those whose only crime was peaceful assembly and expression, including women campaigning against being treated as something halfway between man and animal in their courts. For I fear that out of the daylight of world media, the nightmare of two decades ago will return.

Your second contribution is keeping your political leaders informed about the range and brutality of the oppression in Iran. Your governments have insisted that they would not interfere in Iran's internal affairs. I applaud that. Any such attempt will give the tyrants the excuse they need to paper over their own differences and target anyone struggling for freedom as a foreign agent. But that is not all they do. They are painting every statement in defense of human rights as foreign interference. They benefit from the confusion between the two. It is vital that the free world not fall for such cruel cynicism in the name of realpolitik. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights knows no national boundaries. Its defense is not only a moral issue, but a mutual obligation of all governments who are its signatories.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

A movement was born on the 22nd of Khordad in my calendar and 12th of June in yours. It is not Islamic or anti-Islamic, it is not for capitalism or socialism, nor any other ideology or specific form of government. It cares little about historical squabbles before its birth. It is about the sanctity, even more, the sovereignty of the ballot box. By certifying fraudulent election results, the Supreme leader and the Guardian Council have spent their authority against the movement. They stand in the people's way, leaving no bridge behind. The movement may not succeed immediately. It will have its ebbs and flows. It may not control the street for now. But it will not die.

The Spirit of the movement will permeate every home and workplace, public and private, grinding the government to a halt until there is no exit for tyrants, but yielding to the victory of human rights and democracy in Iran.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

I stand before you today to ask for your solidarity with my fellow Iranians on their march towards liberty and justice.

Reza Pahlavi, has been leading a campaign of none-violent defiance against the theocracy of Iran, he is an accomplished jet-fighter pilot, author of three books, in Farsi, English and French, and father to three daughters.

In a scathing criticism of the Iranian regime delivered in the form of an exclusive video interview for French daily Le Figaro today, Reza Pahlavi also predicted that civil resistance, strikes and the underground movement will continue the fight.
Relaxed and smartly-dressed, and in excellent French except for his accent, the Shah’s son delivered one of his most candid interviews to date on the current situation in Iran.

Asked if the repressive tactics used by the Iranian government had worked, he replied “The repression led to the movement being a uniting factor for everyone, united for freedom and against the kind of violence that was committed."

He estimates that the protest movement has now entered a second phase, that of civil disobedience and resistance, defiance and strikes in order that the regime cannot continue to survive.

In a historical approach to the situation, he claimed that since the 1979 revolution that overthrew his father, and was instigated by religious leader Ruhollah Khomeini, the country has been “A totalitarian state based on extremist ideology.”

After characterising the general situation by saying “This is the beginning of the end. The masks have dropped” he insisted that recent events signify “The last nail in the coffin.”

He was also questioned on the “outstretched hand” offer by Obama to Iran, and if that offer was still viable, answering that that policy now appeared to be difficult to sustain.

He also thanked Western countries for “not having interfered in Iranian affairs.”

Concerning the possibility of his being the “providential man” now needed in Iran by the protest movement, he replied “You can’t say that there is anyone who incarnates everything right now. The movement is everyone’s. This is a premature debate. I want this movement to succeed, and my countrymen shall decide afterwards if they want me to play a role in the future or not.”

Nokia and Siemens Broke Embargo to Help Iran Crack Down on Protesters

http://yidwithlid.blogspot.com/2009/06/nokia-and-siemens-broke-emargo-to-help.html

You would think with all of the embargoes that the US government has on doing buisness with Iran and its crazy President Ahmadinejad , that it would be pretty difficult for companies that do buisness with the United States to sell systems to the terrorist regime that would enable it squash dissidents. Of course if you thought that, "you would think..." wrong.
