I hope some day we can use the true Persian name and that is Khaleej Pars & not Fars. Since arabs could not pronounce P they changed all persian words that started with P to F. I hope we can get as many Persian words back into our language as possible.

For the past 4 days I have been watching a documentary on PBS, called the "Carrier". It is about the navy ship USS Nimitz & the life of its sailors. The ship was deployed to the Persian Gulf, after several stops, to support the US troops in Iraq & also keep an eye on iri. Throughout this documentary everyone, from the top admiral, to the bottom sailor constantly referred to their location as "Arabian Gulf" or Arabian Sea! These are the people that should know better!
I am beginning to think, perhaps this change of name, is a deliberate attempt by the US, & others (including Google), to show the dominance of Arabs in that region & marginaliz Iran.

Let's catch some big fish if you wish to talk to them about the Persian Gulf and they want to talk about ARABIAN GULF!!

Spring 1996-December 23, 2000: United Arab Emirates Army Pays for Hijacker Alshehhis Studies

A poor photocopy of Marwan Alshehhis United Arab Emirates passport. [Source: FBI]Marwan Alshehhi, a United Arab Emirates (UAE) national, volunteered for the UAE army shortly after leaving high school (presumably in late 1995, based on his age). After going through basic training, in the spring of 1996 he is granted a college scholarship to Germany, paid for by the UAE army. Alshehhi is to learn German, then study marine engineering. The scholarship is accompanied by a monthly stipend of around $2,200. The UAE army declares him a deserter in April 2000, shortly before he quits school and moves to the US (see April 1, 2000). It is not clear why. Curiously, Alshehhi will continue to receive this stipend despite being a deserter, and even after he drops out of school in Germany and begins attending flight school in the US. The stipend comes to an end in December 2000. [9/11 Commission, 8/21/2004, pp. 132 ; McDermott, 2005, pp. 53-56, 196]

Blank jan,

In the past 4 weeks I keep hearing Mrs Rice trying to bring a greater clash between Persians and Arabs by selling them weapons and saying openly Arabs have to be careful of Iranian dominant and influence in Mideast. They are now playing for the first time the Nation/Nationalistic cards on the table.

I totally agree with you. Behind all these or deletion of the name Iran in Yahoo, is USA. It is simple naive if we trust Americans. They would never help us. We have to make it ourselves. They always have been stupid in their foreign policies. Look how they betrayed Shah. They start another Arab o Persian War in these years. You will see. If Arabs win, Ahwaz will be separated. If Iran win, Mullahs will continue their rule. We are doomed!!!

Dear Ashavan:
One thing I know for sure, there is going to be an election in Israel soon, and Benjamin Natanyahou is running as a candidated for prime-minister. I am pretty sure he will be elected. He has clearly said "he will be pro-active & will not allow another holocost", in response to Antarinejad's statement that he will wipe Israel off the map. He knows very well the danger of a nuclear rag-heads, and will not wait for the West & US keep "negotiating" nonsense.... I believe he will bomb the sites that they think is providing Nukes for destruction of Isreal and the world. I also believe with the new president in France they may help Israel behind the scenes. US is preparing the Arab countries so they will defend themselves against Iranian attack on their oil reserve; & in case of closing of the Strait of Hormoz
If that happens (Israel destroying Nuke sites), I only have one hope that Iranians will rise up and start destroying IRI. This may never happen, but I hope West for their own sake will help opposition groups in Iran to uproot the IRI, by giving them, communication equipments & weapons. If the West has an ounce of brain they should know the success in Iraq, Lebanon, Afghanistan lies on a regime change in Iran.

As a historian and arachaelogist, and also as a non-Persian, it has always been and will always be Persian Gulf. If one reads just a little bit of history, again just a bit, no one would claim such a stupid name. It's as rediculous as calling Saudi Arabi, Saudi Persia, or calling the Oman sea something like Qatar sea. I can't even believe that people, in 21st century are still closing their eye despite all this telecommunication and advanced technology. There are billions of sources of historical references that people have access to, yet still some stupid people, claim such stuff. Again as a historian, Histoy will always tell you the truth. No matter how much Arabs pay, out of their big pockets, obviously from Oil money not from hard work. I can't believe that people have to sign for the real name of Persian Gulf. I am afraid that in near future we have to sign for UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, instead of UNITD STATES OF ARABIA. Because if money can change a name of 6000 years old, why not 240 years of history

Destruction of historical writings on Khalije Pars, very much similar to what Taliban did to statue of Buddha in Afghanistan.
