Archeology experts are working to determine the possibility of safely transporting ancient Iranian artifacts to Mexico to be displayed in a Museum.
Tehran, 15 December 2005 (CHN) -- The selected articles by the experts of Iranian and Mexican museums have been sent to the restoration workshop of Iran’s National Museum to be examined whether or not they can be sent to Mexico to be displayed.
The exhibition of the “10,000 Years of Iranian Art” will be held in Mexico City on April 2006, displaying several artifacts from the pre-historic era to the end of Qajar dynasty.
Last month, a Mexican Museum expert came to Tehran and selected some items in the National Museum of Iran with the cooperation of some Iranian experts in order to transfer those items to the Mexico Museum for the exhibition. The items will first be examined by the restoration experts of Iran’s National Museum in order to determine the possibility of transferring them to Mexico without causing any harm to these ancient relics. After examination of the items, the ones which would not be harmed during such a long trip will be sent to Mexico to be displayed in the exhibition.
“During the first phase, the collection of Lorestan metals has been studied,” said Mahnaz Gorji, head of restoration division of the National Museum of Iran. According to Gorji, most of the selected items are in an acceptable condition and they can safely be transferred to Mexico.
Based on a memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries, Mexico will also hold an exhibition of the remaining evidence from Inca and Maya civilizations of Mexico in Iran National Museum.
Iran has long been holding exhibitions in different countries such as the exhibition of “7000 Years of Iranian Art” which toured Europe or the “Persian Glory” exhibition which will be held in Japan. According to the agreement signed between Iran and Japan in the National Museum, more than 180 artifacts will be loaned to Japan for arranging exhibitions in 5 different cities. |
