Iranians boycott anti-Jewish rally

SMCCDI (Information Service)
October 28, 2005

Millions of Iranians boycotted, today, the yearly "Qhods
(Jerusalem) Day" rally which is organized by the Islamic
republic regime in order to wage hate against Israel and
the Jewish people.
This Islamist-racist action was initiated by Rooh-Ollah
Khomeini, the founder of the theocratic regime, in 1979. He
made of the destruction of Israel one of the pillar of his
backwarded creation.

This year's rally should have been the most important ever,
as, the new Islamic President has started to openly
request the wiping off the map of the State of Israel. But
more than ever, Iranians stayed home or used their Friday
in order to go out of cities and turn their backs to the
unpopular Islamic regime and its new symbol of power.

In the Greater Tehran, which has an estimated thirteen
millions of inhabitants, just a crowd estimated between
fifty thousand to eighty thousand, what was the Islamic
regime was able to bring for its show of hate and force.
Professional demonstrators benefiting of welfare or forced
to participate, wives of hard-line Islamist elements,
school students and members of Bassij para-military force
and Guardians of Revolution were the bulk of the
demonstrators.

Several thousands of Pakistanis, Afghanis or Iraqis who are
living in Iran, were also brought to the demonstration
from other cities in order to inflate the size of the
Capital's rally.

In provincial cities the trend was the same and showed the
popular rejection of the Islamic regime and its ideology.

It's to note that an absolute majority of Iranians are
known for their friendship toward the Jews and an important
Jewish community was residing, from twenty six centuries
ago and till the advent of the Islamic regime, in Iran.
Several Israeli officials and high military commanders,
such as, President Moshe Katsav (Kassav) are natives of
Iran; And Katsav - who's fluent in Persian - addresses
often the Iranians via the Persian service of Radio Israel.

The Jewish People were freed from the oppressive Babylonian
rule by Cyrus the Great who was the founder of Iran.

Iran fires 3 ambassadors, recalls 18 envoys after row over Israel Fri. 28 Oct 2005

Iran Focus

Tehran, Oct. 28 – Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has fired his country’s ambassadors to Britain, France, and Germany, and ordered 18 envoys to be recalled to Tehran, a government official in the Iranian capital told Iran Focus.

“Ahmadinejad has been angered by what he sees as the envoys’ meek reaction to the global condemnation of his Wednesday speech against Israel and the West”, the official, who requested anonymity, said. “He made the speech with the full blessing of the Supreme Leader [Ayatollah Ali Khamenei] and has his green light to stifle any dissenting voice within the government”.

The official said that while there was broad consensus within the clergy-dominated regime on the hard-line President’s vow to “wipe Israel off the map”, some Iranian diplomats voiced concern that the international backlash could be too costly for the Islamic Republic.

On Friday, an array of top political and military figures in Iran lined up behind Ahmadinejad’s fiery speech. The Commander in Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards, the Speaker of Parliament, the Secretary General of the Supreme National Security Council and the powerful Minister of Intelligence and Security (Iran’s secret police) were among those who fully endorsed the President’s diatribe and made equally strong invectives against Israel.

“The Supreme Leader and his inner council see a window of opportunity for Iran right now, as the Americans are stuck in Iraq and the Europeans are divided over what to do”, he said. “They are telling everyone not to be afraid of threats of military action by the West, as this is only a bluff”.

The ambassadors who are being fired were appointed during the administration of ex-President Mohammad Khatami.

Senior cleric: U.S. lost, Iran won after Ahmadinejad’s speech Sat. 29 Oct 2005

Iran Focus

Tehran, Iran, Oct. 29 – A senior Iranian cleric said that the Islamic Republic had come out victorious against the United States after the call by hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for the destruction of Israel.

Ahmadinejad had told a crowd of several thousand students that “Israel should be wiped off the map”.

“It is right to say that America lost and Iran won”, Ayatollah Mohsen Meshkini, who heads the powerful Assembly of Experts, told Friday prayers worshippers in the holy city of Qom, south of Tehran. The Assembly of Experts, an exclusively clerical body, designates the country’s Supreme Leader.

Ayatollah Meshkini urged Muslims to raise their voice against moderate Muslim leaders who want to normalise relations with Israel.

“While the oppression in Palestine is at its peak, the silence of these Muslim governments is haraam (contrary to Islamic law) and shameful”, he said.

Iran's threat Sat. 29 Oct 2005

Boston Globe

GLOBE EDITORIAL

BY TELLING a conference in Tehran Wednesday that ''Israel must be wiped off the map," Iran's new president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, was not only revealing the hate-twisted face of the Islamist hard-liners who took over key government posts following his suspect election last June. He was also throwing down a challenge to the governments of the world.

Ahmadinejad mocked every country that accepts the United Nations' principle of respect for the sovereignty of all other member states. For if Iran's president can openly call for the annihilation of Israel without censure or penalty, the bedrock purpose of the United Nations -- to create a world order rooted in collective security -- will be emptied of meaning.

Several governments have issued statements denouncing Ahmadinejad's outburst. It was called stupid, offensive, unacceptable. But it was not merely a rhetorical faux pas. The nations of the world need to take what he said at face value: as a threat. A murderous suicide bombing this week in the Israeli town of Hadera, perpetrated by the small, Iranian-sponsored terrorist group Islamic Jihad, underlined that threat.

What Ahmadinejad said expressed a fanatical mentality, the outlook of a political leader who served as a security boss in Iran's notorious Evin prison after Ayatollah Khomeini came to power and is said by former inmates to have personally finished off executed political prisoners with a bullet to the head. Iran specialists commonly report that Ahmadinejad represents only one current of thought in Iran's leadership and that other influential figures are more pragmatic. If so, that is even more reason to make it clear that there is a price to pay for a regime that not only assassinates its domestic dissidents but issues overt threats of eradication against another nation.

It is not enough for other governments to call in Iran's ambassador and ask for an explanation of Ahmadinejad's remarks, as many are doing. The tenor of his reaction to this kind of polite diplomatic complaint was on display in a circular sent to Iran's diplomats abroad by the foreign minister in Ahmadinejad's Cabinet, Manouchehr Mottaki, telling them to ''go on the offensive" when called in for an explanation by their host governments. Iran's ambassadors were told to protest against the policies of Western nations ''and urge Europe's condemnation of Israel."

At a time when those Western nations are trying to negotiate an arrangement with Iran that allows that country to develop nuclear energy for civilian use without being able to produce highly enriched uranium for nuclear weapons, the Iranian regime has to be told it cannot make death threats against other members of the United Nations. The UN Security Council should demand that Iran retract Ahmadinejad's threats or be suspended from the world body.

Iran ceremony to honour suicide bombers Sat. 29 Oct 2005

Iran Focus

Tehran, Iran, Oct. 29 – The Headquarters for Commemoration of Martyrs of Global Islamic Movement, a government-organised body in Iran, will hold a memorial ceremony in Tehran on Sunday to honour suicide bombers, a hard-line daily announced on Saturday.

The daily Kayhan, close to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said the meeting will be held in one of the Iranian capital’s main meeting venues, the Seyyed-ol-Shohada Hall. The event is being organised jointly with the office of Islamic Jihad of Palestine in Tehran and the Martyrs Foundation, a state-owned institution.

“Volunteers for martyrdom-seeking [suicide] operations will be enlisted in the meeting”, the daily reported.

21 Iranians arrested in Iraq Sat. 29 Oct 2005

Iran Focus

Baghdad, Oct. 29 – More than 20 Iranians attempting to cross into Iraq illegally were arrested near the border, according to an Iraqi television channel.

A report aired by the al-Sharqiya TV on Thursday said that Iraqi security forces in the eastern province of Diyala had “arrested 21 Iranian nationals penetrating Iraqi soil in the border city of Mandali”.

It reported that an official who had asked not to be identified by name said, “The elements that have infiltrated Iraq are enjoying the support of Iran's Revolutionary Guards”.

Iraqi, American, and British officials in Iraq have repeatedly accused Iran of backing insurgent groups and dispatching undercover military or intelligence agents to Iraq disguised as pilgrims.

Earlier this month, British dailies cited a military source in Basra, southern Iraq, as saying that there was evidence that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards were running training packages for insurgents, leading to eight British soldiers being killed in Iraq.

U.S. Congress blasts Iran for threats Fri. 28 Oct 2005

Iran Focus

Washington, DC, Oct. 28 – Both the United States House of Representatives and Senate passed separate resolutions against Iran on Friday for threatening peace in the Middle East and calling for the annihilation of Israel.

On Wednesday, hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that Israel must be “wiped off the map” and “anybody who recognises Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nations’ fury”.

The Senate “thoroughly repudiates the anti-Israel sentiments expressed by the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, on October 26, 2005”, according to the Congressional Record.

It also called “on the President [Bush], on behalf of the United States, to thoroughly repudiate, in the strongest terms possible, the statement by Mr. Ahmadinejad”.

The Senate resolution reaffirmed that the State Department had designated Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism that had “repeatedly provided support for acts of international terror”.

It also said that the “outrageous statements of Mr. Ahmadinejad are not in accord with the expressions of the Palestinian leadership in the peace process”.

The House of Representatives passed a similar resolution Friday condemning Ahmadinejad's remarks, with some members demanding that Iran be expelled from the United Nations for his threats, the Agence France Presse reported.

“The leader of Iran made one of the most repugnant remarks the international community has heard since Adolf Hitler", said Representative Tom Lantos.

"With his bone-chilling call for Israel to be 'wiped off the map', the Iranian dictator placed himself and his benighted regime far beyond the pale of the civilized world", the California Democrat said.

Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a Florida Republican, said she was among a group of House lawmakers who are urging the United Nations to vote on expelling or censuring Iran.

"Ahmadinejad's incendiary remarks were appalling. In calling for the annihilation of Israel -- a United Nations member state -- Iran stands in grave breach of the UN Charter, which stipulates that member states must foster peaceful relations with one another", said Ros-Lehtinen.

She also said she had asked Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to lead the effort to secure a UN Security Council recommendation for Iran's expulsion.

Well obviously I didn't "write" that, I simply posted it....(chuckle):

“The Supreme Leader and his inner council see a window of opportunity for Iran right now, as the Americans are stuck in Iraq and the Europeans are divided over what to do”, he said. “They are telling everyone not to be afraid of threats of military action by the West, as this is only a bluff”.

-------

As it happens, here the IRI is literally handing the Iranian opposition what the opposition has been calling for for some time from the international community....expultion from the UN, the recall of it's "diplomats", and further isolating itself, without anyone having to lift a finger from the outside to initiate that.

It is ....I can't quite articulate it properly....amazing to watch happen.

Probably the most bone-headed, suicidal statement in the last several decades....since Khomeni uttered it....that is.

All their "denials" is so utterly false and transparent as lies upon lies that there is no "threat intended" makes me wonder if the regime actually believes that the world community is a bunch of village idiots, that "can do nothing at all"

That belief in their own rhetoric that that is the case is compounding stupidty on insanity....and is a suicidal combination.

Now today, terrorism in India....was this retaliation for their yes vote in the IAEA meeting?

One has to wonder.

Seems even in the midst of denial, the regime is going forward with the implementation of it's "Zionist free world" agenda....as the report of this suicide meeting with Islamic Jihad illustrates.

Right now, the IRI is in direct violation of several UN resolutions, including the one passed at the Plenary summit against incitement of terrorism.

It's going to be a very interesting week ahead, as the US president and his Sec. of State put pedal to the metal on these issues, as now mandated by Congress in unanimous consent.

Condi rice was urged to take measure to bring the UN sec. Council to address the membership of Iran...and that would be put before the General Assembly ultimately for a two-thirds majority action.

The Russians must simply be completely paralized, knowing that they cannot object without seeming to be on the wrong end of the moral stick.

The US is not going to rub it in and say "I told you so." but we won't have to....it's way too obvious.....and self evident.

Way to go Antar!....We couldn't have done a better job of uniting the international community if we'd inserted a CIA agent as the Iranian head of State....LOOL!

Hey now....there's a conspiracy theory for you.....maybe we did....(chuckle).

Presenter: Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Minister of State for Defense of Japan Yoshinori Ohno and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Nobutaka Machimura

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

News Briefing with Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld

(excerpt)

Our guests from Japan have airplanes to catch. I think we'll take one more question.

PRESS: I have a question for you, sir but since Secretary Rice is a guest in our house maybe she would like to violate your rule and comment.

SECRETARY RUMSFELD: Why don't you ask it? [Laughter].

PRESS: Well, it's really more a defense question, sir, but in a sense it hinges on both. The question is about the new saber rattling by the President of Iran against Israel. Do you take it seriously? And if so, what does the United States plan to do about it?

SECRETARY RUMSFELD: Madame Secretary.

SECRETARY RICE: Thank you, Mr. Secretary.

I think it has to be taken seriously. When the President of one country says that another country should be wiped off the face of the map in violation of all of the norms of the United Nations where they sit together as members, it has to be taken seriously.

There has been widespread condemnation of this statement and it only demonstrates why we're working so hard to keep Iran from getting technologies that would lead to a nuclear weapon under cover of civilian nuclear power, why we're working so hard to remind the world that Iran is probably the most important state sponsor of terrorism, and why people should never forget that the Iranian people live without freedom and without the prospect of freedom because an unelected few are denying them that.

So I think you're seeing the world rally to that view.

-----------end excerpt-------------

Oh yeah, and in case anyone was wondering Rasf. "the repugnant" was attending the parade of flag burning wannabe martyrs in total support of a "Zionist Free world"......don't be confused by the Iranian "good cop, bad cop" routine....the mullahs and monkeys are all on the same page.

You can see for yourselves, the photo's on:

Iran’s Foreign Minister: President’s remarks reflect our strategy Sat. 29 Oct 2005

Iran Focus

Tehran, Oct. 29 – Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki strongly defended on Saturday President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s blistering attack on Israel and the West, saying that the President’s speech “was nothing but the strategy and policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the past 27 years”.

Mottaki made these remarks in an interview with Iran’s state-run television.

The Iranian foreign minister, himself a hard-liner, accused the United States and Britain of “creating a commotion” over Ahmadinejad’s speech as a way of letting Israel escape the consequences of two disarmament resolutions adopted recently by the United Nations.

“The main reason why America and Britain are causing this uproar is that the UN adopted two resolutions against the nuclear activities of the usurper Zionist regime”, Mottaki said, adding that Israel completely ignored UN General Assembly resolutions.

“Since the early years of the victory of the Islamic revolution in Iran, we are witnessing a spontaneous movement in Islamic nations in defence of the oppressed people of Palestine”, Mottaki said.

Mottaki was Iran’s ambassador to Turkey in the 1980s, but the Turkish authorities ordered him to leave Turkey in October 1989 for his role in a series of assassinations and kidnappings targeting Iranian dissidents.

For a full report on Mottaki’s past, see Iran Focus’s article:

Tehran ‘bounty’ for attack on Israel Sat. 29 Oct 2005

The Sunday Times

Uzi Mahnaimi, Tel Aviv

30 October 2005

IRAN has promised a reward of $10,000 (£5,600) to Islamic Jihad if the militant group launches rockets from the West Bank towards Tel Aviv, a senior Palestinian intelligence official said last week.

Speaking in his Ramallah office, the official produced a fat wad of $100 notes which he said had been confiscated from a pro-Iranian Islamic Jihad activist.

The money was said to have gone from Iran to Damascus, the Syrian capital, from where Ibrahim Shehadeh, Islamic Jihad’s head of overseas operations, transferred it to the West Bank.

According to the intelligence official, the Palestinian Authority has located workshops where “Al-Quds” (Jerusalem) rockets are being made and has given their co-ordinates to the Israelis. “We understand they destroyed some of them,” he said.

The Israeli media claimed last week that rocket attacks from the West Bank were widely expected: Ben Gurion airport’s eastern runway is just five miles away and the outskirts of Tel Aviv are within 10 miles.

Shaul Mofaz, Israel’s defence minister, and the army’s chief of staff held an emergency meeting to discuss requests from the mayors of towns bordering the West Bank for sirens to alert inhabitants to incoming rockets.

Israeli intelligence officials said that Iran was threatening the country on three fronts: through long-range missiles based in Lebanon; through terrorist networks around the world; and through the new arsenals of the West Bank.

Islamic Jihad is the only Palestinian group that calls for the destruction of the state of Israel. Based in Damascus, it has an annual budget of several million dollars — provided by Iran. Ramadan Shalah, its leader, has a PhD in economics from Durham University. The organisation’s military arm is the “Al-Quds Brigades”.

Since the death of Yasser Arafat last year, Islamic Jihad has taken the lead in attacks against Israel. A suicide bombing that killed five people in the northern town of Hadera last week was revenge for the killing by Israeli special forces of Luay Saadi, the group’s leader in the West Bank.

This weekend Israeli forces launched an operation against the organisation in both the West Bank and Gaza — including the destruction of the rocket workshops.

--------------------------END------

Comment: Seems like the PA is pretty pissed off at Iran, this is the first time in memory that the Palestinian intel has exposed the financing, and the location of rocket factories publicly.

This is going to hit both Syria and Iran right between the eyes.
