Sporadic clashes rocked, today, several provincial cities, such as, Esfahan, Hamadan, Mashad, Ahwaz, Oroomiah (former Rezai-e) and Shiraz as students came out of the universities, despited the formal interdiction, and rallied to hundreds of supporters.

Islamic regime's Special forces and vigilantes attacked the demonstrators who shouted slogans against the regime and its leaders while requesting Free Elections for Iran's Self Determination.

In Esfahan, clashes have resulted in tens of injured and arrested among the demonstrators while several security patrol cars were dammaged in the Darvaze Shiraz.

Members of the regular Law Enforcement Forces were seen intervenning at several occasions in order to protect some of the demonstrators from the brutal attacks of the plainclothes men but the same forces were seen allowing the official Special Forces to smash the protesters.

Many students were calling on colleagues to observe a strike from tomorrow.

Violent clashes rock Tehran University area
SMCCDI (Information Service)
Dec 7, 2003

Violent and sporadic clashes have rocked the Tehran University area and especially the Enghelab (24 Esfand) and Amir Abad as hundreds of students along with their supporters joined each other in the streets in order to shout slogans against the regime and its leaders.

Special units of the Pasdaran Corp and Bassidj along with plainclothes men attacked the demonstrators who retaliated to them resulting in tens of injuries and arrests.

Clubs, Chains and tear gas were used against those who defied the regime by getting out of the university and were joined by residents exasperated by the rule of theocracy.

Noise of sirenes and slogans against the regime ofered a prelude to a future revolution concert.

The situation is still very tense in the area despite the begining of dark.

Peykeiran's story about the clashes in Farsi.

Synopsis:

Crowds outside joined the slogans of the students inside, extreme anti regime slogans, the regime's forces attack, the people fight back.

Note: Peykeiran mentioned in other accounts of the day that the slogans were quite boldly anti Khamenei, anti- Rafsanjani and anti-regime. In another story they mention slogans such as "being freed by occupiers is preferable to living with oppression", "Are enemy is not the US, its internal" and other pro US and anti oppression slogans, and students talking about welcoming US intervention in Iran.

Quick translation of some highlights from the Peykeiran piece on the slogans:

Deektator haya kon mamlekat ra raha kon= Have Shame you dictators and leave the nation alone

Death to dictator

Khamenei Pinoche, Iran will not be another Chille

Students are awake and they are sick of Sad Ali

Amel har jenayat e een regime Velayate= The cause of all crimes of position are the Velayat (Supreme Leader)

Jomhooreeye Eslami degar asr nadarad, rahbar bejoz khodkoshee rahe degar nadarad= The Islamic Republic has no more effect, the leader has no way out exept for suicide

This is your last chance/final warning, the students are ready for the uprising

Posters and tracts that were distributed had many slogans in favor of US intereference in Iran. A poster read "Establish democracy with American boots", another one read "foreign oppression is preferable to domestic oppression" . The cover of a student magazine carried by everyone stated "Establishing democracy and freedom has the highest value even if its through occupation and foreign interference".

A tract read: "Our main enemy is not the US, our main enemy is inside of our house".

Some students called out these slogans to the chagrin of other students who felt sad that the situation had become so desperate as a result of 25 years of dictatorship that some would prefer a foreign invasion. These slogans included: "Amercia is Victorious the Dictators will be destroyed"

Other slogans urged non-participation in the next elections and demanded Referendum
