Grave Concerns About the Fate of Protestors Arrested Outside of the UN Offices in Tehran, Iran
Persian > English Translation
The Free Speech Movement organization of Iran, has expressed grave concerns about the fate of those who were arrested at the protest gathering in front of Tehran's UN offices, in an announcement. Their announcement reads: “Compatriots, Media, Opposition Groups, and Human Rights Activists, based on news from Evin prison and activists inside Iran, the brutal torture and interrogation of those whom were arrested demonstrating outside of the UN offices on August 17th, continues at the 209 detention house of the Intelligence Ministry (Bazdashtgaheh 209 vezarat Etella'at).
Behruz Javid Tehrani, Bina Darab Zand and several others who were arrested have been so severely tortured that there are concerns about their life. Meanwhile over 20 of those arrested recently alongside political prisoners whose family members have been detained have engaged in a hunger strike. Based on incoming reports, Shiva Nazar Ahari, Akram Eghbali, and Amir Saran who started a hunger strike a few days ago are in critical condition now. This is all happening as the hunger strikers and prisoners are being tortured at Evin and Rajai prisons in Tehran.
The Free Speech Movement organization of Iran, while expressing grave concerns about the brutal torture of political prisoners and the recently arrested protestors, ask all human rights groups, opposition groups, media outlets and free Iranians in exile to use every means available to them to demand an end to this brutal torture, and a full investigation of political prisoners and aid to the hunger strikers towards their release." _________________ free |
