Shirin Ebadi in Gala Concert- Please BOYCOTT

Ebadi is to visit London by the end of September (30th) to take part in a gala event as the keynote speaker. Invitation cards have already been sent to all individuals and organisations who are identified as potential contributors to this event. The gala is in aid of raising funds for Encyclopaedia Iranica and is sponsored by a hitherto unknown charity called Magic of Persia whose trustees are:

Shirin and Shirely Elghanian, Mehdi Metghalchi and Vajihe Soleymani

Proceeds are to dedicated to The British Museum and another obscure charity known as M David Foundation. There will be performances by singers Mahasti and Sattar and live auction by Diddi Malek (?). The venue is London's legendary Dorchester Hotel and ticket are £300 per head. See the attached invitation card for details.

What is most disappointing is that Ebadi (who now has an honorary Doctorate! - see the attached file) should be invited under the pretext of raising funds for Iranica. It shows how desperate Dr. Yar-Shatter must have become to resort to concerts and Ebadi's public spiel. Equally appalling is sponsorship of this event by the survivors of Elghanian family. Habib Elghanian, the prominent Jewish tycoon, was the first and perhaps the only Jewish-Iranian who was executed by the Islamic regime. Although he had every opportunity to flee to Israel, he remained in his own country and paid the ultimate price. Now, his legacy forgotten, his family are siding with the Islamic Republic's Apologist par Excellence, Shirin Ebadi. All trustees of the "Magic of Persia" foundation are members or closely working with another infamous organisation with close links to the Islamic regime: Iran Heritage Foundation.
